The car is still drivable right? The random shuddering and jerkiness during shifting is super annoying but it still drives. Maybe you can get your Jeep back and continue to drive it around until they get the part. Unless they’ve made the determination that it’s not safe to drive

Man, I’m sorry to hear what you, and your wife going through. 1 month is a really long time for anyone to be out of a brand new car they just boughtI.

This Jeep is my first ever new car I’ve bought in my entire life, and this same thing/issue I’m experiencing with my car has totally put a damper on my whole new car buying experience. It was this or the new Nissan Pathfinder for me.
They didn’t recommend for me to keep driving the vehicle since it might be a transmission issue they didn’t want me on the side of the road.

what engine do you have and what octane are you using? I have the V6 and I find that using 89 octane reduces this from happening...
I have the V6 also and just using the recommended fuel which is 87. I did not try 89. That’s interesting.

One thing to note for everyone here is that for me this issue happens when my transmission temperature reaches around
165F-175F.

Just dropped my GCL at a Jeep dealership. I was able recreate the issue alongside with one of dealership techs on a test drive before handing over the suv since it only starts occurring when transmission temp is at 165f-175f range and shifting from D1 to D2.

Also confirmed how start/stop never seems to get to a ready/active state

Now just hoping above 2 issues get resolved. Also having the radio and service 4x4 recall/update performed

I have the same issue and I've been watching this thread hoping someone finds a fix. I have not taken mine in for service yet as it's drivable and I don't want a non-loaded rental :).

Yeah, I hear you. But I’m also worried what that’s doing to the engine and transmission in the long run. And then on top of that it just ends up being not so good of a driving experience

My Jeep surges acceleration from 1st to 2nd. Feels like it hangs on downshift from 4th to third and 2nd to 1st. Also has a audible kind of click sound at downshift from 2nd to 1st. I have an appointment set at the dealer on Monday 10/18
How did your appointment go, Sbradle4? If you need additional support or would like to discuss further, we are in private message.

Blamed the surging on the transmission still “learning”; even with 3300miles on the odometer. Claimed they “could not duplicate the clicking sound”, when it did it on the way to the dealer, and on the way out of the dealer. Also “could not duplicate” the front suspension thud noise, with the same results occurring as the transmission.

My dealer told me the same on mine.

New JGC L owner Limited trim (as of 10/9) with 507 miles on it - like the vehicle with some exceptions so far. First day encountered rough shifts from first to second (shudder that can clearly be felt in the passenger cabin) Then noticeable downshifts from higher gears when coming to a stop. Noticed the rough shifting occurs when transmission temp is above 170 degrees F. Other issues have popped up including USB ports not charging consistently, Carplay glitches, noticeable wind noise coming into the sunroof, and a vibrating brake pedal after brake pedal is depressed for more than 6 seconds at a stop light. Front facing camera also got hit with a small rock on a highway and is cracked.

Dealer initially did a software update to try to address trans issues, which did not resolve issues. Dealer is now looking into transmission issues with Chrysler tech engaged after being able to replicate rough shifting. Initial diagnosis is a new transmission valve body is required to remedy the shifting issues, but no ETA on part as the part is backordered.

Sounds like @joer561 too is getting a new transmission valve body for the same rough/shuddering shifting issue too. I’m still waiting to hear back from my dealership.

Thanks for sharing,

Got vehicle back from the dealership. Transmission Valve body was replaced and so far it seems that might have fixed the problem. After driving a few hundred more miles I’ll update, but it’s driving and shifting smooth now.

@joer561 - How long did the part take to come in? I have been told I need a new trans valve body to remedy rough shifts, but my dealer told me the part was backordered. - thanks.

Curious, did this fix the click sound when going from 2nd down to 1st when stopping?

I have the rough shifting from 2nd to 1st in mine, but I really feel the transmission when it's in 7th gear. It occasionally feels like a massive thunk or drop on the freeway- super hard to describe. has anyone else experienced this?😬

Thanks for your response. I have an appointment with my dealer. unfortunately it’s not until November 8th.

Because of the multiple issues with my Jeep I do have an open case with Jeep Cares, but so far haven’t had any resolution.
