Does anyone know what’s “different” about these replacement valve bodies? Are they using newer/different part numbers or just replacing with the same but “new” ones?

I’m curious if the replacements contain a different vein structure, new/improved valves, or something else that’s attributed to things improving. I’m experiencing this as well with just under 1,400 miles (‘21 V6 Limited 4x4).
Who knows! That wasn’t shared or explained to me, and I didn’t ask. As long as they take care of it and fix it I’m happy and move on

Mine is still in the shop, closing in on 3 weeks, waiting on the new valve body to arrive. Supposed to arrive around the 1/19/22. I asked Jeep Cares about being compensated for the time without the vehicle. They told me to send them a copy of the work order and my car note when the repair is complete. I told them the vehicle is paid off so there’s no car note. They haven’t responded on what other options there are. I feel like asking themfor a 1K coupon at Mopar parts so I can buy some goodies.

Sharing across as a FYI

I don't have any insights on what is new / different with the replacement valve bodies, but the Service Director at my dealership shared with me that Chrysler is now requiring extensive documentation, photos, error code sheet, etc. etc. to process / send out a replacement valve body. This is a change from a few months ago, where replacements were sent without a lot of documentation / justification. The valve bodies that have "made the cut" for replacement have been filled with metal flakes and clearly in bad shape as well.

You saying the replacement valve bodies are bad too?

Can see the confusion in the post. No, the valve bodies that have been removed from vehicles for inspection are clearly in rough shape and generally have a lot of metal flakes / debris in them. Safe to assume the replacement valve bodies are in working order.

I dropped off my 21 GCL limited for this same issue and showed the service advisor this article as well. After the dealer opened a case with jeep, all things are pointing to the valve body infact.

Would like to know how was the experience after having the valve body replaced. Any more jerks when shifting from 1st to 2nd ?

Update: Mine is still in the shop. Its been about 6 weeks and I almost forget what it looks like. They have been unable to get the replacement valve body from the manufacturer. Now they are telling me there are a few dealers across the country that have the replacement valve body and they’re trying to get them to agree to send one to my dealer. I’m working with Jeep Cares on this, any insight on what I should ask for as far as compensation when this is all over?

Anyone still having issues with their upshifts or downshifts out there?

Have over 4K miles on my 21 GCL Overland and the downshifts in the middle gears (6 >5 & 5 > 4) are getting more pronounced and noticeable in the cabin. I used to only notice the shifts when trans was at 165-175 F, but the noticeable shifts are appearing at lower temps (low 100s) now.

Two dealers have done their normal review (scan for codes, test drives, etc.) and can't replicate or find any stored error codes. I have been in the car with the service techs 2x on the test drives to help shepherd their review a bit, but no luck. Seems as though there is a lot of reluctance from any dealer to do much with these Ls until they get several error codes or dash lights.

Contemplating taking the vehicle to a third dealer to see if that yields anything.

If you plan to bring your Jeep back to the dealer and need our support, send us a private message. We would be happy to assist.

I've been noticing this as well and a "whine" sounds when going downhill before the gears shifts down.

My Grand Cherokee L has 2900 miles and it shifts very weird around 10 to 20 mph. It’s almost as if the transmission was slipping. I will be taking into dealership tomorrow. Hopefully it’s just low on transmission fluid or a software update, but I don’t know. It’s frustrating. If i accelerate fast you can’t really tell, but from a dead stop and accelerating slowly once it hits 10 to 20mph it shakes almost as if it was going to stall. After that speed it drives fine. Has anyone experienced this with any other Jeeps? I traded in my Jeep Cherokee and never had any problems with that one.
This is exactly what ours is doing. Picked it up from the shop Friday…they couldn’t fix it because it didn’t “throw a code”

New JGC L owner Limited trim (as of 10/9) with 507 miles on it - like the vehicle with some exceptions so far. First day encountered rough shifts from first to second (shudder that can clearly be felt in the passenger cabin) Then noticeable downshifts from higher gears when coming to a stop. Noticed the rough shifting occurs when transmission temp is above 170 degrees F. Other issues have popped up including USB ports not charging consistently, Carplay glitches, noticeable wind noise coming into the sunroof, and a vibrating brake pedal after brake pedal is depressed for more than 6 seconds at a stop light. Front facing camera also got hit with a small rock on a highway and is cracked.

Dealer initially did a software update to try to address trans issues, which did not resolve issues. Dealer is now looking into transmission issues with Chrysler tech engaged after being able to replicate rough shifting. Initial diagnosis is a new transmission valve body is required to remedy the shifting issues, but no ETA on part as the part is backordered.
I have noticed the below issues with high temps on the transmission for me '21 GCL Summit Reserve w/ V8:

1. Strange shifting behavior while in Auto / Sport modes (typically from 2nd to 1st it will lurch forward when slowing at a stoplight) and when shifting between 4th and 5th it will hesitate for a sec and then go). It should be noted that if I use the paddle shifters to manually shift through the gears, everything seems fine.

2. 4WD overheating / performance warning message, followed by notification that 4WD has temporarily been disabled
