I tried to order a limited yesterday but the dealer said that they are not given the option to build with the Luxury Tech Group II. Has anyone else been told this?

Been running into this issue since ordering opened. I ordered in early may and I couldn’t do it. But now dealer has ones coming into stock with lux 2. I don’t get it

Yes I've been dealing with this for about a month now. From what I'm being told it's due to the chip shortage. I had a Limited on order that I just canceled cause I want to wait for the package to be available. Also been told they do not know when the package will be available.

Did you lose deposit when you cancelled?

No, in my email to my sales I just asked to cancel and keep me updated on when the package and more colors become available. The lady I was working with called me last night and said she completely understands and wants me to be in a GCL that I will be happy with. She refunded my deposit and will keep an eye out and keep me updated.

I’m so frustrated. Ordered a summit March 6th. Production was completed may 25th. It has been sitting at the plant waiting transportation since that time. My husband is the manager at the dealership where I ordered. They received 5 unsold units on Monday. All limited and over lands. Makes no sense why the one sold unit ( mine) that was the first ordered was not delivered. Of course jeep chat and Jeff are zero help. My patience is thin……

Can understand why you patience is running thin. As much as the chip shortage is causing problems, I still feel Jeep/Stellantis botched the launch of GCL.

I ordered my Summit on 29 June. Went to the dealership today to see if I had received a VIN yet. Answer was no. Can anyone tell me how long before we get a VIN number? Already gave them my trade. Cash up front. I thought 12 weeks was long but acceptable. At this rate 2022’s will be out?

Did you order the V6 or Hemi? I received my VIN for our Summit R w/Hemi about week and half from the date order was placed. We placed at the end of April. We are still in "D" status w/ no updates on when they will start building it.

I ordered V6. Just got my VIN and reached out to Jeep CHAT last night. Chatted with Vivian who was helpful. She said all parts are in. Awaiting on build and delivery. Ordered on 29 June.

I ordered a V8 Summit Reserve yesterday. After watching a few reviews, I'm now a little worried. I see reviewers comparing the GC-L to a Telluride and also bashing it's fuel economy figures.

The V8 seems to be less fuel efficient and I'm now wondering if I should cancel my order and wait for a more efficient engine to be added to the options in the future.

Others who ordered a V8 and one of the top trims. Do you share similar concerns?

For those of you who have been following this thread from the beginning, I did receive a message from Jeff at Jeep today. I ordered my V8 Summitt on May 3, 11 weeks ago. On June 23 I replied to Jeff, and today on July 20 I did receive a reply from Jeff. Also noticed on this forum that Jeep replied to my message and they ARE currently buidling the v8 units. Curious if anyone has received a V8 estimated finish date on yours yet? Following is my reply from Jeff, just posting on here so if it helps someone else, I can do that!

Hello Mr. Smith,

Thank you for your response. We are anxious to get your vehicle built and shipped to your dealer as quickly as possible and want to assure you that your order has our attention and priority.

As your Jeep Grand Cherokee L has been assigned a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), no changes to the order may be possible.

At the present time I have no updates to provide regarding your factory order; however, I wanted to let you know that production of these models are underway.
I am continuing to monitor your order with our factory resources and will continue to prioritize for production. I hope to have additional news and updates to provide soon.

I will be following up with you for your order updates as soon as there are additional updates to share on your order. Additional email responses received will be queued and responded to within this time-frame only. If you require immediate assistance pertaining to any ordering questions or concerns, we encourage you to speak with your ordering dealership who is your best resource for any ordering questions you may have related to your factory order.

Thank you for your loyalty and we’re proud to have you as a member of the Jeep Family!

Sincerely,

Jeff

Sometimes it’s how It’s driven. My ‘15 Suburban LTZ that I’m trading in for the GC L SR got me 26.2 MPG on a trip to Wyoming and 25.7 on a trip to Missouri. I had over 700 miles on the Wyoming tank. Everything else about the LTZ was trash except the Bose system, but, on long trips it was definitely decent for fuel efficiency. Do I expect that from the GC L? No, but the ratings are averages and might not reflect how you drive.
