Any orders placed yet?

Pretty sure, but I believe there is only less than 0.5% complaining.
That's exactly what I'm thinking. I only joined this forum to help me understand the order and build process, but if I just bought it straight off the lot, I don't think I would've come here unless I had specific issues that I needed to know about. Hence that's what we are seeing when people post issues.

Don’t get me wrong, the forum is a great outlet to get information, but having been in the industry for 20 years it tends to be the power users that join the forums. Now that term can be both positive and negative. Some customers can find something to complain about on the most reliable cars, trust me, I sold Lexus for years. Others won’t complain at all because they understand that technology is challenging at times. I typically wait to purchase any vehicle until the 2nd year and this has always proven to be a good strategy. My ‘21 X5 M50i was trouble-free but my buddies ‘19 X5 was a non stop headache.

I'm watching these forums to help determine if this new model, with it's many useful, yet electronically delicate features, is a worthwhile purchase, especially this early in its launch. It is difficult to determine how wide spread each of the problems that are shared by many, listed here:
While early adopter got the lion's share of the problems, (but at least they beat the price increase), some manufacturing, if not software or component problems remain.

I made the mistake of checking with Jeep Chat again today. Still awaiting parts. Ordered in December. Next time I do this I won't sell my car ahead of time. Used car offer was too good to pass up.

I like to ride my bike, but not this much.

Well, I just got Jeeped. My GC SR 4xe was in paint at the beginning of this month (February) according to both Jeep Chat and the dealer. However, I checked Jeep Chat today and got the all parts are gathered and the build process will begin soon. UGH!!!!! Really?!?!?! How does it go backwards?

I got it. The 4XE blue requires additional time to dry. So they hung it up to dry........🤓

Still not in build so doubtful it will meet the 3/4 ship date now. Another week, and close to 16 weeks now

I have the same question. Been backwards twice since ordering!

Looks like I'm in the shipping stage now with my SR V6. Dealer told me Monday that production should start on March 1st, and Jeep Chat tonight said that it entered the shipping stage yesterday. Didn't realize that would all happen in a single day..

Hello there, first post in this forum. I have ordered a GC SR V8 in Velvet Red. Order was finalized on 2/16, and on 2/27 I got an email with the VIN, and an estimated delivery date of 3/29. Needless to say, I was shocked at that, as it's only about 6 weeks from order date, when I was expecting 8-12 at minimum, though it still remains to be seen whether or not it actually arrives in that timeframe.

This will be a notable upgrade for me, as I'm currently driving a 2019 Cherokee Overland, and have previously owned 2011 and 2008 Jeep Liberty Limiteds. I've been drooling over the Grand Cherokees since the WK generation, but they were always priced out of my budget for the trim level I wanted. Now I'm finally in a position financially to afford this despite the high sticker prices, given my current salary and the inflated trade-in values right now, and frankly I'm glad I waited because the new body style and interior is a MAJOR improvement over the WK2 in my eyes.

That said, after discovering this forum and reading about some of the issues that people (particularly Sarge) have been having, I'm honestly starting to have major second thoughts here. I know the wisdom of not buying the first year of a new model refresh, but my reasoning was that this is technically the second year, since the L came out in 2021. What I didn't realize is that they just started building the L's just a few months ago, so really not much would have changed in terms of tweaking build quality. My current Cherokee has had very minimal issues, and I'm starting to wonder if I'm going to be switching from a reliable, paid-off vehicle with low miles and plenty of life (and extended warranty) left to a $73k lemon. It's honestly to the point where I'm already forming a contingency plan for what I would do if it does turn out to be a lemon and I have to go through a messy buy-back process and get something different. There's no doubt in my mind that I will greatly enjoy the new GC if it actually works reliably, but the fear of it constantly being parked at the dealership for warranty service is kinda getting to me now.

So, anyone have any thoughts on this? Am I just being paranoid? Is this just a case of 1000+ satisfied customers for every one person that's had major issues? Basically, I'm just trying to decide at this point whether to cut my losses, cancel the order, and wait at least another year, or if I should forge ahead and hope for the best.

My two cents: You are absolutely right in that there is a bigger risk buying a new car in the first model year of a MAJOR redesign and update like the 2022 JGC. There is typically an uptick in issues with those 1st-year models. That being said, I personally treat this message board as a home base for information on my vehicle. It's been really helpful with the ordering process and to see if others are having the same experiences. It'll also be really helpful once I take ownership of my vehicle and if I happen to experience some of the other "problems" that others are experiencing.

Cases like the Sarge person who essentially has a Lemon (whether the law says so or not) are generally not the norm. I hate seeing stuff like that, but for my own personal experiences and decision-making, I make sure to take those with a grain of salt, knowing that they are the exception rather than the norm. It's certainly a red flag to pay attention to, but doesn't guarantee loads of problems, or even significantly increase the likelihood of them. It's just one extreme example. If these cars were all overrun with extreme problems left and right, these message boards would be having a meltdown.

Generally, if an owner doesn't have issues, 99.9% of the time they won't even look for a message board like this, because they have no need to. It's the owners who have problems who will search for these, and that's why it always seems like there are a ton of problems. It's super easy to get scared off, especially when it's a $73k+ vehicle. I ordered a Trailhawk that is about $20k less than yours, so my risk tolerance is a bit higher, I think. But that's to each their own. It's an expensive purchase, so it's okay to be a bit paranoid. If you are in no rush, you may want to back out and wait a year if you can. Personally I'm trying to take advantage of the sky-high trade in values, so waiting a year may not make financial sense for me.

Yeah, the loss of the crazy trade-in value was a major thing that concerned me, though admittedly that's now offset by the current lack of dealer discounts, not to mention inflation and the sudden jump in MSRP pricing. If I cancel and just start saving money until next year, I'm concerned that the price gap may outpace my savings rate. I also wasn't sure how soon they would discontinue the Hemi with the new I6 coming out, but A) I definitely don't like the idea of buying the first year of a new engine, and B) I'm still not sold on the idea of a turbo-anything being truly better than a N/A engine, fuel economy benefits aside. I was hoping to be able to own at least one Hemi in my lifetime. All that said, the gamble on waiting another year means neither the GC itself nor the I6 will be first-year anymore, and there will be plenty of reviews to make an informed decision on engine choice, assuming the Hemi is even still available anymore. I have no interest in the 4xe.

Anyway, I still have a few weeks, so I'll sleep on it some more before doing anything rash. I might also try to go chat with the service department at my local dealer and see if they can offer any insight into issues they've seen so far with these new GCs. I know they've sold several L's at least, so if they haven't seen any major issues, then that may help calm my fears.
