Good luck. I have spent countless hours trying to get to the bottom of this problem including,
- Speaking with countless people at Jeep Wave, including supervisors.
- I finally got them to pass along my case to the buyback department.
- I've had the dealer look at the issue multiple times. Their answer, as well as Jeep Care had to do with the word "Can" in the description which speaks to the Speed Limit being displayed.
The following is what I sent Jeep last week.
It is and has been my contention that the information provided by multiple documented sources, all of which are authored or originated from Jeep make clear that the following features are and should be included in the
Advanced ProTech Group III option, which my Overland includes. It should also be noted that EVERY salesperson I have spoken with, including the ones responsible for ordering vehicles, have ALL said the same thing, that my vehicle should include the missing option.
Head-Up Display
- Jeep.com website
- “The HUD can display speed limit, vehicle speed, Navigation, incoming text messages, vehicle information and safety alerts.”
- Jeep Owner’s Manual
- “Content and Layout (page 102)
- Simple: Speed, Speed Limit
- Standard: Speed, Speed Limit, Navigation
- Advanced: Speed, Speed Limit, Navigation, Driver assist, (ACC/Cruise, Active Lane Management, Gear” Incoming text message is missing?
- “Advanced Mode
- When “Advanced” mode is selected, the HUD displays the vehicle speed, turn-by-turn navigation, speed limit, driver-assist function(s), and current gear.
- Custom 1: Speed, Speed Limit
- Custom 2: Speed Limit missing custom options
- Custom 3: Speed, Speed Limit, Navigation, Driver assist, (ACC/Cruise, Active Lane Management, Gear”
- Mopar YouTube Video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxAg-sVaF9s)
- The video shows the Speed Limit in the HUD and demonstrates how to configure the Custom options (from Advanced Layout)
- There is no mention or disclaimer that any of the features described in the video may or may not be available in your vehicle.
My vehicle is missing all the items highlighted above in yellow.
Jeep’s Position Regarding the Missing Speed Limit
The position that Jeep is espousing hangs on their interpretation of the word “
can” which is that the word “can” is meant to imply that the stated feature
may or may not in fact be included in your particular vehicle. Which then raises the question, how would one go about getting an accurate list of features that their particular vehicle may or may not have?
To test Jeep’s interpretation, I decided to do an experiment which included replacing the word
CAN with what Jeep claims is the correct interpretation “
may or may not”
Advanced ProTech Group III
- Head-Up Display
- The HUD can display speed limit, vehicle speed, Navigation, incoming text messages, vehicle information and safety alerts.”
- Let’s replace the word CAN with “may or may not” in the sentence above
- The HUD may or may not display speed limit, vehicle speed, Navigation, incoming text messages, vehicle information and safety alerts.”
- TRANSLATION: Potentially none of the six listed items will be displayed in the HUD.
- Surround View Camera System
- …drivers can also select different camera views, including front and rear cross path views.
- …drivers may or may not also select different camera views, including front and rear cross path views.
- TRANSLATION: It should be understood that depending on your particular vehicle, the driver may not be able to switch camera views.
Luxury Tech Group IV
- Passenger Seat Memory
- “With the memory feature, your passenger can save his/her customized settings for the power front passenger seat.
- “With the memory feature, your passenger may or may not save his/her customized settings for the power front passenger seat.
It is my sincerest hope that the examples that I provided above make it clear that Jeep’s interpretation of what the word “can” means is misguided.
WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR
- An explanation, including documentation for why my Jeep’s HUD does not offer the Custom layout option (HUD Layout Setting = Advanced) that is described in the Owner’s manual (page 102).
- An explanation, including documentation for why my Jeep’s HUD does not display text message notifications.
- An acknowledgment that my Jeep should include all the missing features that I have listed.
- Fix my Jeep so that it includes the missing features or buy it back.
