GCL attempts to lock itself multiple times

Any one have an issue when you walk near your truck (2021 GCL) with your key fob in your pocket or hand and the truck keeps beeping as it would if you just locked the door with the key fob? Mine won’t stop. It just started doing this today. It’s not the keyfob that is the issue. I changed to the spare keyfob and it’s still happening. It probably beeped about twenty times. I’d walk away and walk back and it would start beeping again. Then I tried to pen the door by grabbing the door handle and it wouldn’t open right away then it finally opened. Weird and frustrating.

It got towed today because after this happened the next day it was totally fine but today it was dead. Tow truck asked what was wrong. I told him what happened two days ago and that now it was dead and he replied I bet it’s your battery is dead. He tried to jump it to no avail. He said he has heard of that many times where the car starts doing odd things then the battery dies shortly after. He claims new batteries don’t last long at all. He said he’s towed many new cars, all brands and the batteries are dead. Two dealerships said they can’t look at it for atleast two weeks. Nobody has loaners. Not a good feeling at all.

The tow driver was exactly right. What he said happened, I experienced, verbatim. I have a corporate contact who intervened on my behalf and the wait magically went from 2-3 weeks to the same day he got involved. I went and got a rental and within a half hour after I got the rental the dealership called and said my car was done. They said the problem was a dead battery. They replaced it. I asked what would cause the battery to go bad. They said your truck is loaded with bells and whistles. If the battery isn’t totally up to snuff it dies. I said well that’s not to comforting because my other truck is exactly the same but even more bells and whistles. It’s a month newer When will that die? The problem isn’t a Jeep problem. It is a problem with the entire automotive field. My friend has a newer GMC Acadia. The same thing happened to him in April. The batteries that are being made can’t handle all the tech the cars have. Maybe the car companies should start making battery replacement an annual part of maintenance and cover it in the warranty. Hmmm this country wants to go to all electric cars yet the batteries that are being made can’t even handle the tech we have now? All these dead batteries can’t be good for the environment. I don’t think we are even close to being ready for all electric. Politicians should wake up and smell the coffee.
I thank corporate Stellantis for stepping up. They have yet to let me down.

Well it’s happening again. Truck randomly attempts to lock itself several times for no reason. It happened while I was on vacation and I was concerned the battery was going to die. Brought it to a dealer who looked into it. The truck did it while the tech was looking at it. They checked error codes tested some things, took interior panels off and traced wires They think it’s the rear hatch handle and switch. The switch stays open and the truck keeps trying to close it. The parts are on order. Hopefully that is the problem and they fix it. This is after a different dealer told me my battery was just bad and there was nothing wrong with the truck that would have caused the issue. Unfortunately I no longer trust the truck as it has proven to be unreliable.

Yup that’s what I was told. Apparently there is a bit more to it than that. Such as the ominous rear hatch latch handle and motor that has been mentioned many times on this forum.

@Juggernaut Can you share where in the forums the rear hatch has been discussed pertaining to it being problematic? Mine, and a few others I know with the same vehicle, have this clicking that come from the rear hatch while the car is just sitting and mine was doing yesterday while driving. A week or so one morning, my batteries were totally dead, jumped the car and now even after dealership load tested each of the batteries and put a full charge on them, My Stop Start no longer works, just displaying "Not Ready" I am wondering if it is the rear hatch that drained my batteries ????

They should replace BOTH batteries, Mine went totally dead , and they replaced both and I have had no issues since. The OEM batteries are junk. There are similar problems with alot of the other brands. .
