WHAT EXACTLY IS PPFYou have to really look for the edge of the ppf to see it. In the photos, it shows up more than in person. It's really unnoticeable.
Paint protection filmWHAT EXACTLY IS PPF
This would be an over simplification but it's basically a very durable laminate that sticks to whatever it's applied to. It is a must have in my opinion. The black plastic on the console will scratch from touching it even once. With the ppf, you can lay your keys on it or whatever and it won't show a scratch. You would never be able to tell it was installed unless someone told you it was there. Totally worth every penny.WHAT EXACTLY IS PPF
If it anything like applying window film, it will take up to a month for the air bubbles to fully dry out. I would talk to them about the bubbles and tell them " I am willing to give it a month and see where we are then. At that time we can talk about you (Xpel) redoing the items where it didn't dry out fully and looks unprofessional.I sent quote requests to about 10 xpel installers in the area and the only company replied saying they would do it, was charging an arm and a leg ($550) for the center and rear console. Not happy with the price, but whatever. I had it done this week when I was out of town on a business trip. My wife sends me photos post-install.
Is it unreasonable to request correction of the bubbles?
This was an Xpel installer charging a premium. In my mind... it should be near flawless at this price point. I understand the bubbles around the shifter - whatever.. they're tiny. But the other defects are unacceptable in my opinion.
$550 hack job 😩Defects are unacceptable in my opinion.
Where is your installer located?Ladies and Gents, I just got my 22 SR L back today from having the center console wrapped with ppf. It looks perfect. If you look hard you can see the edge of the wrap on the border of the touchscreen but most edges of the wrap are hidden. Where you see the wrap edge it looks like part of the intended design. The wrap doesn't show fingerprints or smudges the way the plastic does and doesn't seem to scratch or show scratches easily. Well worth it! They did my console in front and in the one in the second row for around $200. The key is choosing a vendor with a template. No way would i use a vendor without one. I used Xpel.
There would be a cut out if you have the air suspension toggle switch. Other than that, the templates should be the same...I think.Stupid question... Shouldn't the PPF area measurements all be the same across models- Limited, Summit, Overland, Trailhawk?
So to confirm, what's the typical cost for PPF covering to the piano black front/center console? $500? I saw the screenshot above, but was not sure if that was pretty standard pricing. Thanks in advance. There would be a cut out if you have the air suspension toggle switch. Other than that, the templates should be the same...I think.
Installer is in Columbus, Ohio.
I don't know what's typical but as I mentioned in an earlier post, I paid about $200 for the center front and 2nd row consoles. So to confirm, what's the typical cost for PPF covering to the piano black front/center console? $500?
