UConnect/Apple CarPlay issues

Weird how this problem isn’t consistent.
Now, regarding the paint chips: when did you notice them? What was the cause?
Thanks!
I noticed the chip on the back bumper the day I bought it. Looks like something dug into it as the bumper is actually nicked. They noted it in the paperwork so the repair will be done without cost.

Hi;
Have you find something yet? I have the same problem. My fix was using the cable. But I want it wirelessly.

Hey there,

We're sorry to hear that you're having concerns getting this sorted out. Feel free to send us a private message with your VIN and more details if you'd like us to look into this for you!

Thanks,

I’m glad you all’s UConnect is working because I can’t even activate mine. Less than a month old and it’s been to the dealership 3 times and still no fix. I have an error “Uconnect requires service. Visit an authorized dealer” that won’t go away. The screen freezes all the time and you have to restart the car to get it fixed. I’ve also had the dreaded CarPlay disconnect issue that others have had. I’d return it if i could and wait for Jeep to sort out these problems. B607B7CE-8D45-4A2C-91A0-BE9757453EF6.jpeg

If you been to dealership 3 times and the same issue came back over and over, I think you qualify for lemon law 🤣 Go get your new GCL.... again!

There are many quirks,bugs,glitches with this new Uconnect 5. There are many posts over on the Durango Forums. The Grand Cherokee L's have updated software, that we(the Durango Forums) hoped would solve alot of the issues. Apparently not... Dodge Cares have been telling us since December that an update was coming. First by end of Q1, then by end of Q2, now by end of Q3. I hope they can get their act together, because the Uconnect 5 has alot of potential, once they get the bugs worked otu.

I’m just about there with it. If they don’t fix it this time, I’m done. @JeepCares, any ideas?

I’ve had my GCL for a week and I’m having Apple CarPlay issues also. I appreciate all the input on this forum. I’m glad to know it isn’t only my vehicle. I’m hopeful Jeep will figure it out and come up with a fix for all of us.

I’m having frustrating issues with Apple CarPlay. Both, my iPhone X and my wife’s iPhone 12, are no longer able to use CarPlay after 2 days of ownership. They were working fine when we left the dealership in our GCL Summit, but by the next day, Carplay disappeared from the apps menu, and UConnect gets stuck “connecting” to the phone. So far my only work around is to do a factory reset from the UConnect menu. However the problem comes back in less than a day. If I avoid a factory reset and just try to delete the connection (from both UConnect and our phones) and re-establish it, UConnect only sees our phones as music and calling capable. The CarPlay function completely disappears in UConnect. I’m not really sure what causes it, at first I thought it was because my wife used the usb cable instead of wireless CarPlay. But it happened again, without any cable use.
Anyone having any similar issues with Apple CarPlay in their GCL?

Any suggestions for a workaround that doesn’t involve losing all of our presets and profiles?

I contacted UConnect but they could only offer me a call back from a tech rep. I’ll be contacting my local service department tomorrow, but after googling around to find a solution, I’m not confident Stellantis has a fix, since CarPlay issues are affecting 2020 vehicles and other versions of UConnect.
I had a similar issue when I first connected my phone wirelessly. I was stuck in "connecting" for a while and the process eventually failed. When I tried again, I hit the music icon while it was connecting and that seemed to unclog it. I attribute the issues to new tech, so I expect some quirks. I am thinking as more trucks are out in the wild, more updates will come. Side note: sound quality is (usually) better on a wired connection vs wireless. I know some guys will scream BUT I WANT IT TO WORK NOW, but the "fix" is really the better option.

When in "Run" I rebooted the system by holding down the volume knob and tune knob until it went black and the Jeep screen appeared and CarPlay showed back up and has been working fine.
Good call on the soft reset procedure; however, this didnt resolve my carplay issues unfortunately. Waiting for ios software update to finish and try again

I can join the discussion with CarPlay issues now, but my issues are mirrored in many of the comments above. However, that makes me feel BETTER because the issue is clearly a broad software glitch rather than unique to me. Long story short: After wireless C/P worked to get me to the tint shop today, the car wouldn't recognize my phone as a C/P (only B/T phone and audio were available). No dice either when I deleted the phone as a wireless connection and used the cable. I am hoping a software update is coming that can resolve the issue. @JeepCares please add me to the bug report.

I had this issue occur as well. I placed the phone in AirPlay mode and then back to cellular and I was then able to pair the phone again.

CarPlay seems flakey here as well. Sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't.

However, it seems both devices know they're trying to connect. When tapping the CarPlay icon on UConnect, the iPhone WiFi disconnects so that it can connect to the Jeep, it just never happens. Likewise, while it's trying to connect, if I turn CarPlay off in the iPhone settings, the Jeep immediately displays a message that CarPlay needs to be turned on.

So, seems like they're talking, just not quite right.

Does anyone’s actually work? It’s really frustrating. I could see the wireless CarPlay not working I guess but even when plugged in?

I just had a situation where it didn't work after a Jeep app remote start, but after a few mins it connected. I think wireless carplay likes it best when the car is started with the phone in the car, and if it stays inside until the car is off.

👋;
I’m also dealing with CarPlay issues. Takes more than 30min to connect (wireless). With cable seems to work well. Also bluetooth is working fine. I have the Summit model and the dealer says there’s no logical reason for this to happen. Really want to use the way supposed to be intended.
