UConnect/Apple CarPlay issues

How about you list all the potential fixes in this thread so we can all give them a try? No need for secrets lol

Although you may be experiencing similar symptoms, the causes may not be the same. Therefore, we ask that you message us privately so we can collect your VIN and look into your specific situation further. We just want to make sure that nothing is overlooked. However, if you'd ever like to try performing
a soft reset of your Uconnect system-
1. Put your vehicle into the accessories mode (ACC or RUN)
For keyless start (push-button) vehicles: push the start button twice without having your foot on the gas or brake pedal
2. Hold down the Phone and voice recognition buttons (or tuner and volume knob), at the same time, for thirty seconds.
3. Let go of the buttons
4. Turn the vehicle off
5. Open driver’s side door for thirty seconds (or until dash illumination goes black)
6. Close door
7. Restart vehicle
8. Let the media center load up and see if the concern is still present

If your concerns persist after you run through these steps, our inbox is open if you'd like our assistance!

Got a fix for you guys. Switch to an Android phone. Works 98% of the time. Only seems to have a smidge of a problem when two connected phones and one leaves. All joking aside. That sucks for you guys. Hopefully they figure it out. Sorry.

👋;
I’m also dealing with CarPlay issues. Takes more than 30min to connect (wireless). With cable seems to work well. Also bluetooth is working fine. I have the Summit model and the dealer says there’s no logical reason for this to happen. Really want to use the way supposed to be intended.
I agree - I am thinking the very first software update will fix this. Like I said above, its better that we all have this issue rather than only a few.

Mine has been working after ios update. Only 2 days but so far so good. It is stupid that i cant be connected to my in-car wifi while using carplay. Somewhat eliminates the benefit since i have unlimited data only via connected car line…

Are you able to use in-car wifi if you use the wired connection?

New insight worth testing: I pulled out of the garage today and about half way to my destination hit the CarPlay connect button, and it did. Worked flawlessly for the rest of the trip, until I got home and pulled into my garage, it cut out a couple times and then disconnected from CarPlay completely. When I pull into the garage, the phone is able to connect to my house WiFi. I have a theory that the phone is confused on which WiFi to connect to.

Worth checking if any of you are also close enough for home WiFi to connect. I'll try forgetting the network on the phone later and see if it works correctly in the garage later.

That's good info! I have CP launch automatically far from my home wifi (I live in an apt complex).

I picked up my JGC-L Limited yesterday, with 10" uConnect, and CarPlay worked perfect for 24 hours, including in my garage. After driving 1 hour for a meeting this morning with CarPlay operating perfectly, CarPlay wasn't showing as an option when I turned the car back on. After a few minutes, I stopped car, turned phone on and off and restarted car, all to no avail. And even bluetooth didn't always turn back on without efforts in Device Manager. With the help of this forum, I was able to restore CarPlay in my garage tonight by "forgetting" the wifi networks in my home on my iphone 12. As soon as i went to reconnect to the house wifi, i received a message on my iphone "Disconnect CarPlay with Uconnect-c....? Joining the network "my home network name" will end CarPlay" and I am given choice of Cancel or Join. At this point, I have already lost CarPlay on the screen. If I choose Cancel, CarPlay returns nearly instantly. If I choose Join, the systems start cycling and after several minutes I still don't have Bluetooth Phone connected. But if I forget the home network on iphone wifi, CarPlay and Bluetooth connectivty returns almost immediately. Hope this helps those that are having trouble, even if not a permanent workaround. And I should also point out that I did a system reset by holding down the two radio buttons until screen goes dark then reboots prior to attempting "forgetting" the house wifi networks.

Hey everyone, I really glad I found this forum because I was going insane with the CarPlay issues and our 21 GCL. I’ve been trying everything I know to fix it, including multiple soft resets and a hard reset. My wife’s phone will stay wirelessly connected for a bit then drop and then reconnect. Sometimes, she’ll lose connectivity while using her lightening cable. I’ve checked all the USB ports, doesn’t matter. Today, while driving, the phone was connected wirelessly and then it started intermittently dropping connection, eventually the CarPlay apps were corrupted looking. The screen went blank, had to do a soft reset. CarPlay wouldn’t come back, even plugged in. I personally think it’s a bad antennae or the UConnect software needs another update.

Just got a 21 GCL yesterday, having the same CarPlay issues. Get everything set up, and it will not connect to CarPlay wirelessly. Annoying. Anyone have a true fix yet?

@JeepCares i sent a private message last week regarding the wireless carplay issues i have been having. I included my VIN like you requested. Do you have any updates? I haven't gotten any response yet. Thanks.

I have had issues with the bluetooth, wired & wireless carplay. Bluetooth and wired carplay have been around for years, not sure why this is happening.

This is now what happens when I got Market on the radio. I have even connected to the home wifi, I have tried to setup the hotspot and that does not work. I put name and password in then go back and they are gone on the screen..

Are all the issues happening with the 8.4, 10.1 or both? I am sure they use different back-end computers but wondered if there was a certain trend with the issues.

Carplay works intermittently. Connects than won’t.

You can add me to the Uconnect 10 airplay is unreliable bandwagon. About 50/50 chance of working wired, about 10/90 chance of working wireless. If there's two phones in the car just don't even bother trying. I don't think collecting VINs is going to help here, I don't think there's a single owner who has a reliable CarPlay so I would assume the IT team is aware of the issue and if there's a way to fix it via a software update they will get around to it eventually.
