To Lemon or To Wait

Hey

I own a 21 GCL which I bought in November 2021. I love the car but it did have 3 issues. A rattling noise from the 3rd row, Uconnect software issues and lastly a shudder/jerk in the transmission from 1st to 2nd gear. At first the dealer said the transmission is learning and it will go away but it did not after 3k miles. First time I gave the car in for this issue and they reset the transmission. I gave it in again as that did not fix the car and it's been sitting at the dealer for 2 months now and they have tried to replace the valve body but it did not fix the issue either. The dealer then contacted Jeep and opened a case to document this and are following jeep procedures to fix this issue. The dealership has been extremely helpful with loaners, service and communication so they thankfully are not the problem here. My question is how do I move forward with asking Jeep to take the car back IF the problem still remains after they give me the car back saying the issue is fixed ? Would appreciate if someone has gone through this process with the new GCL to shed some light on this.

ABsolutely email/call Jeep and reference your case. At least they will give you some money/car payments for the troubles. If its still a problem and has been in the dealer for 30 days, you can get a replacement or money back

Review your state's lemon laws. Some states allow 12 months, 12k miles, others are higher. That's your lemon law runway for filing a claim.

Because they're still ironing out so many issues, and the new inline 6 twin turbo motor is on the near-ish horizon (more announcements coming at NYAS in a couple weeks), I would probably recommend being patient, but also contacting an attorney in your jurisdiction to review the situation. With two months in the shop, you're probably already over the typical '30 days in the shop' requirement, but I don't know that there's any rush depending on whether you want the new turbo motor (which should be fantastic if it proves reliable. It's been in development forever so hopefully it will be pretty good out of the gate).

Thanks for the input. I would likely reach out to jeep with my issue and see what they have to say and also refer to the ongoing case that my dealership has opened with jeep to fix the issue in my car.

Not so keen on the turbo. I like the V6 that jeep/Chrysler family put in their vehicles. If anything I might switch to a 4xe looking at these gas prices.

4xe is a turbo 4, just FYI.

Turbos have gotten a LOT more reliable, though, on the whole, as long as you don't start modifying them. Modifying them can sometimes still be reliable, but it depends on how thoroughly modified, and how they're driven and cared for.
