Theft Alarm Triggered after purchase

Hello all, new member, new to the brand. Super please this far with our new Summit except for…

just yesterday the vehicle theft alarm started randomly going off. Tried calling UConnect help, they were no help and said to visit the dealer for help.
Pretty frustrating that my new 70k vehicle alarm just randomly started going off, with nothing or anyone near the vehicle. Anyone else experienced this ?

thanks !

Update. On Tuesday 8/3, the vehicle failed to turn on. There was absolutely no power, we tried to jump start the car but were unsuccessful. We called roadside and attempted to arrange the vehicle towed to the nearest dealer (not who I bought from).
The vehicle main battery which is underneath the seat needed to be directly jumped instead of using the posts under the hood.

After the vehicle started, we drove it to the dealer and left it with for about two days. They performed software updates, replaced the main but not auxiliary battery. The dealer claimed that the rear view camera mirror was to blame and instructed that the mirror needs to be toggled back to “analog” in order to keep from drawing power. (Bull ! My Silverado has the same tech and I’ve never used the regular mirror setting, this would be a big engineering fail if it were the case)

The next day, we were in the same situation where the vehicle failed to start again. Roadside sent out a tow, we told him to jump the main under the seat and drove it to the dealer.

we have now owned the vehicle for 9 days, had possession of it for 4 total days. Driven less then 150 miles on it.
Pretty disappointed, we made a big investment not only with the cost of the device but choosing the brand for the first time. While the dealer has been helpful, I’ve lost complete confidence in the vehicle. Two same issues back to back feel like a deeper electrical system problem that seems that will be haunting me in the long run.

Update. The car spent 5 days with the original dealership after we took delivery of it ( again) yesterday.
They replaced both batteries. We drove off and everything went well. Got home. Didn’t drive anywhere.
This morning the vehicle failed to start again. This is the third time in less than 14 days the vehicle fails to start. Definitely electrical in my opinion. The dealer states they have contacted their Stelantis reps, have again taken possession of the vehicle. At this time we haven’t been advised what the problem really is, clearly something that is drawing power and draining the batteries overnight. Smells like a lemon, looks like a lemon, probably going to be a lemon.

Same issue, our rear view cam is off, we typically do not use it. Yes something draining battery fast in ours too (see my post). Taking it to dealership also. If their answer is to replace batteries good but won't fix it. Doubtful the batterie can handle this kind of drain, much less deep cycling it.

It is not impossible to find the issue the dealership might being lazy hoping issue goes away. Disconnect negative, and check each fuse with a positive multimeter lead, and have your negative lead on ground and also check the alternator. If anything you check with negative disconnected show voltage then that fuse is the issue. Unfortunately if it's in the wiring harness, good luck fixing it. This also poses a fire risk as well and depending where it is a safety one for techs working on it.. imagine airbag going off when you think the negative is disconnected.

I hope jeep has their ears open on this.

I did not have auto theft on but did notice opening an unlocked door without key makes it go off < very annoying.

Unfortunately I work a lot and do not have time to do this troubleshooting, I will be off in a week if the dealership fails, I will try to isolate the issue one circuit/fuse. Will post my findings.

Found issue, see my post. make sure your dealership check the diodes on your alternator, mine seem to be grounding to the a/c hose.

Seems the latch on backdoor is staying active, causing battery drain. I got mine back today, DC Voltage I was seeing is now 0 across the grounds. Crazy right..regardless latch itself is on back order diodes on alternator are fine for now. Battery voltage staying up. Will keep a close eye on it though.

Thanks for the update. Crazy that we both have the same issue, dealer called, latch seems to be the issue. Part on back order, like you stated in your post. Escalating the matter to see how soon one can be delivered.

I was not aware of this when I ordered mine with the Hemi but this helps confirm I made the right decision. Maybe that’ll eliminate a few of the glitches with the L.
I, too, was unaware of this. Ditto! Made the right call getting the hemi!

sure enough, checked my build list .... one batter and no start-stop .... YAY (How did I miss this?)
The rear latch is the issue. May be more widespread and not related to the second battery/start stop. Hopefully not, it would be a shame if this were a mass issue. Congrats on your order

I took my Limited to have the Hitch and Harness installed that was missing from the "tow prep" package and they called me today saying there is a problem with the auxiliary battery and so far they can't figure it out. I tried to mention the rear latch and gave them the star case number but they didn't really seem interested. They said they need to have an electrical expert look at the car next. Less than 300 mile on a brand new car and its stuck in the shop. Let's see how long it takes before I get my jeep back. I fear I have a lemon too

Picked up my Grand Cherokee L Limited 4x4 Saturday, drove it 5 miles and parked it overnight. Went out the next day and it wouldn’t start. I got into the car with the valet key And it went into Theft Mode. Had it towed to the dealer and awaiting their call. I’ll add an update when it happens. I’m not sure if it’s a back door latch issue but I’ll mention it to the dealership. This stinks.
