New Jeep Owner - Grand Cherokee L Issues

Hi - New to Jeep and to the Forum - in fact, this is the first American-made car I've ever bought and the first brand new car I've bought in 15 years. My wife drove a Toyota Sienna for 10 years and it needed new struts/tires. Didn't make a ton of sense to put that money into that car, so we decided to trade it in for a new car - you know, so we didn't have maintenance costs to worry about for a while. She really liked the Palisade, but in the Chicago area, there aren't many, if any, and if you can find one, there's a premium to buy it - starting a car loan upside-down, seemed like a bad decision. We saw this Jeep and loved the look, size, features and that the advertised price was under MSRP - and the dealership had 70 of them on their lot. So after driving 4 other cars that day we drove the Jeep and she really liked it. She opted for a white one over the gray color - it's a Limited trim - got the 20" wheels, dual sunroof, Alpine stereo, 10" screen, all the safety stuff. We got through the purchase paperwork and we left the dealership around 4 PM on Friday, 9/3.

By 3 PM on Sunday, 9/5, it was putting up errors upon start up - a total of 4 errors, shown on the attached pictures. The engine had zero acceleration to the point where we could not drive it. But, the weird thing was if we started/stopped it multiple times, they eventually went away and it drove normal. I plugged in my code reader and saw it was registering P2127 - throttle pedal/position sensor/Switch E Circuit Low. I took it up to Target and the same issue happened again - and I got a video of the startup sequence. Since it was a holiday weekend and a Sunday, I fired off an email to the sales guy - not really knowing what else to do. Shockingly, he responded - on his day off, right away - so huge kudos to him. Then, he called at 9 AM on Monday and said to bring it in - offering a tow, but I went out and it started right up with no issues, and I made it back to the dealership before 10 AM on Labor Day. At the dealership, initially, they couldn't find anything wrong with it. They called and asked if their tech could drive it home - an 80 mile round trip. Reluctantly, I agreed and while doing this, they were able to duplicate the errors. It's been at the dealership for a week now. I had it in my possession for all of 66 hours - and put 113 miles on it in that time. The Jeep dealer has had the car in their possession longer than I have and they've given me 2 updates: 1.) we duplicated the error and we are still working on it 2.) We have no idea why it's doing what it is.

So, I basically have a $52,000 car that I cannot drive, that the tech has no clue how to fix, there's no plan or ETA on when we might get it back, and payments start in about 20 days. We do have a loaner, so we are driving that - but insurance only covers 30 days in a temporary car, not 30 business days. Lemon laws in Illinois require the car to be out of my hands for 30 BUSINESS days, or to the shop for the same issue 4 times in 12 months. I do wish the dealership would communicate more - even if it's "hey, still clueless, but we ordered X, Y & Z parts and expect to have those in by Wednesday" - I've not heard anything since last Thursday. They didn't build the car, and I'm sure they're trying.

Has anyone ever experienced an issue like this with a brand new car and is there any kind of recourse, given that we possessed the car for such a little amount of time before an issue that can make it intermittently-undrivable came up? Seems like I'm shit out of luck and we just have to hope for the best and start making payments on a car we may not have back by then....
