Navigation on Altitude with 8.4in Uconnect 5

I called Jeep connect about the possibility of adding navigation to my 8.4in unit and they came back and said that navigation was included with a trial. I have no nav icon in my Uconnect system. I think the representative may be wrong but I just wanted to make sure here first. They told me to take it to a dealership to get the nav button added.
1. Is it possible to do that with this radio
2. Do you think the Jeep connect representative might not really know.

Interesting 🤔 I have an Altitude no Nav icon curious to see if that’s possible. Rep might not be understanding IMO 🤷🏻‍♂️

I had nav added to my 15 GC when I bought it. It was already in the UConnect system. All the dealer did was take it in the back, and unlock it.

That’s what I’m hoping they can do but this is a new system and all the marketing docs I’ve seen have two 8.4 in screens 8.4 Uconnect 5c with nav and 8.4 Uconnect 5

I would love to add it to my 8.4...If not I would even pay to upgrade to the 10.1 to get it...
I can get the display and backend radio for under $900 then I am sure dealer would need to set the code in dealer connect and program computer. But I am not sure yet.

Maybe @JeepCares can chime in on this if NAV can be added to the 8.4 or if it is a possible upgrade to a 10.1 with NAV...

So the standard 8.4 screen doesn't have basic navigation?
What about when you are using Google maps on your phone, does it show up on the screen then?
I have never owned a carplay or whatever it's called.

If you are using CarPlay, you can use both Google, and Apple Maps and they appear on the screen for sure. I believe the Waze app will as well. Don’t know about Android Auto, but I would assume they would as well.

Can confirm Android Auto works the same way. Uses either Google Maps or Waze apps if they are installed on your phone.

Yes my car play works fine. However, there have been times when I am driving and I have no signal. I was thinking because our cars are equipped with a GPS unit for the Jeep connect that everything was already programmed in and it just needed to be activated. I called a dealership here and they seemed not to know if it was able to be or not. Same with the Jeep connect folks.
