Limited Silver Zynith paint issue.

Had my Limited in silver zynith for almost 2 weeks ago. I hadn't done much with it until yesterday, gave it good wash and immediately noticed what looks like a paint issue on the hood. It appears the metallic flake pooled on the outside of this crease. It's definitely under the clear coat. The pics are in 2 different lightings.
I gave it a good going over when I picked it up...but silver metallic hides everything on a sunny day. The last couple days have been the first overcast day since I purchased, and from the right angle this spot pops right out.
I'm going to the dealer in a couple days. At best I might get an offer for a hood repaint...but man I'm tentative on repainting a silver metallic hood. I guess I'm looking for advice...what would some of you do in this situation? Also, make sure you really go over your Jeep when you take delivery.
What kills me the most is there were 2 silver ones sitting on the lot...identical in every way....and I of course pick the one with this.

Sorry to hear of your paint concerns so soon in ownership, jmfly30. Let us know how your appointment goes!

I sent pics to my dealer, and they said that is an obvious issue that needs to be addressed. I'm taking it in on Friday.
It's going to be tough call. I don't want to open the can of worms of respraying a new hood, especially silver metallic...but at some point some things aren't acceptable.
This area is 5-6" across...and the pics definitely don't do it justice. Like I said in my initial post, on a sunny day with sun overhead, it's hardly perceptible. But on a cloudy day or indoors, it's hard to believe this made it through QC.

Tell them you want a new factory hood and you wont settle for less, although any good body/paint shop could match that easy enough

I think getting a factory painted hood would be difficult...and even it very well may not match.

I know of a great paint shop locally, that repaired a car for me a few years ago. It was flawless, couldn't tell it had been painted. However 3 years later, it was chipped a lot more than what a factory paint job normally does.

I had a few paint issues on our Bright White Jeep that had to be fixed by a body shop. Our paint isn't metallic like your silver, but the body shop did a great job. Your frustration is understandable, hopefully they can fix it and not be noticable.

A couple of years ago had a vehicle from another manufacturer in this same silver color. Was in an accident (not my fault) but the front fender, bumper and passenger door had to be fixed/repainted. I talked to the people at the excellent, highly rated body shop that repaired it (well known, large and does tons of work in my area) and they said silver was THE MOST DIFFICULT to repair and match. Just some food for thought. We have not purchased a GCL.... yet. But I want silver, so please post updates of how it goes.

Met with the dealership today, they agreed it's definitely an issue. They actually found a smaller spot on the fender, and agreed it's under the clearcoat. They felt it looked like a poor factory repair.
They took pics and started the paperwork for a warranty repaint of the hood, and fender if I wanted it. They felt it would be no issue getting approved.
Now I will probably be stuck with the no win situation decision...live with an obvious defect or an aftermarket paint job on the hood. My dealership has their own body shop, so they would paint it there. The shop manager did acknowledge how silver metallic is their most difficult color to paint due to how difficult it is to get the metallic flake to lay down the same way as the rest of the car. Very very prone to mottling or striping.
Once again for the naysayers...it is impossible to see in direct sunlight...but in shade, cloudy skies, or indoors...it pops out like a sore thumb. I would advise anyone buying silver to look it over in the shade.
While they are going through the FCA approval process, I did ask them to tell me what it would take to swap out with an identical one sitting on there lot. I doubt in a million years it would happen, but worth a shot. He said he would have that conversation with his GM.
I switched from driving Nissan trucks and SUV's for the past 25 years to my first Jeep product. I debated between the new Pathfinder and this GCL for months...pulled the trigger on the L. I love it otherwise, but pretty disappointed in the options I'm probably going to be given.

Sucks to deal with, but in the end I think you are over thinking it, they’ll fix it, and you’ll forget all about it in short order.

Just curious, what did you have to have fixed?

Paint chip, another spot that looked like a "cut" in the paint, and a dirt nib. Honestly the paint in general is not great. This is my first Jeep and there are a lot of dirt nibs in the paint and an extreme amount of orange peel.

Oh ok. Yeah I got a few dust nibs here and there, and orange peel everywhere...but I accept that as being the way all new cars are now. I wish I could post a good pic of how this looks, but the camera just doesn't pick it up well.
Anyways, I'm still waiting on word from the dealer regarding FCA approval for the hood repaint.

I finally got this issue resolved last week. Jeep obviously offered to do a repaint of the hood, both front fenders, and blend into the front doors. I obviously didn't want my new Jeep to be half repainted...especially in a metallic Silver. After a couple weeks of talking through my concerns with my dealer, they offered to trade me out for an identical one sitting on their lot. They did me good enough on the trade in. I obviously wished it hadn't panned out this way, but I was willing to pay a small fee to start fresh and not start down the road of repainting half my vehicle.
