Iphone Overheating on wireless charge

@JeepCares Any response on this? A simple, “we will look it to it and actually get back to you” would suffice. We know it’s a complex issue, but acknowledgement of the issue and that you’re working on it would go a long way.

I have not gotten the dimmed screen and message. But the few times I've had mine on the wireless charger I did notice it was pretty warm coming off of it. By chance was she using GPS, Google Maps, Waze, or Apple Maps, through apple car play while on her drive? Or possibly streaming music?
I’ve experienced the same issue with my GCL—and with my previous vehicle (Audi). In both vehicles, when using CarPlay wirelessly, the phone gets quite hot (to the point of overheating) while trying to “charge“ wirelessly. The worst part is that the wireless chargers can’t even keep up with the phone‘s consumption. At best, my battery level would remain constant, but typically, it would actually lose power while still charging continuously and overheating. I think the flaw is with Apple on this one. In both cases, I just use a USB-C cord from the second row and snake it up between the center consul and passenger seat for easy charging. That way, I don’t have to have the cable coming out of the center stack (personal preference). I still use wireless CarPlay (when I can get it to connect in the Jeep), which allows me to unplug the phone from the charging cable if I need to without the music and the other functions stopping. In this configuration, the phone does not overheat, no matter how long I leave it plugged-in to the charging cable.

Yea, the spot they put the wireless charger is also moronic. It takes up the entire storage area versus how Cadillac and GM do it with a slot you slid in just for your phone.

Has anyone tried or are willing to try using a Apple wireless charger in there Jeep and start carplay and see how hot it gets by chance. iPhones are not known to have a love for anything aftermarket and wireless charging in general during the best of times can build heat so just a thought which would help troubleshoot the issue a bit.

Looks like @JeepCares doesn’t care. Two threads with people complaining about this and no acknowledgment that there is an issue.
Anyone know how do get the manufacturer and part number of the built in wireless charger? I’m in contact with a senior engineer at Apple investigating the issue and they need this information.
