So I noticed this once before, but I was able to confirm the issue on a trip I took yesterday. I never touch my headlight knob and leave it set in Auto, I did this on my '19 GC as well. I've discovered that the headlights work as expected, the read whatever light sensor there is and automatically turn on or off as needed. The drivers cluster and the radio stack however, only seem to read the sensor when the Jeep is turned on.
So, normally its not an issue, but if you're taking a longish trip, and you're driving from daylight into darkness, as it starts getting dark out, the radio stack never dims and it's not long before it's super bright. If you turn the headlight knob from Auto to On it dims the interior as expected, but when you turn it back to Auto it gets full bright. I waited about 30 mins yesterday to see if it would eventually figure it out, but it never did. Finally I pulled over to the side of the road and turned the car off and back on, and then it went into night mode with the headlights in auto.
Anybody else have this issue?
I made an appointment with my dealer to have them check it out, but it sounds more like a software problem then a something they can fix problem, unless nobody else has this issue but me...?
