I've got a GCL Overland that comes standard with the hands-free power lift gate. It barely works.
Has anyone else run into this issue? Pointless if you have to kick your foot a handful of times for it to work…. Or not work.
It’s literally a quick kick. Nothing longer than that. Will give the quick kick a try. Definitely have had the fob on me, and I’m assuming it has been activated in Uconnect if it worked on occasion.
@voltdoc - how long is long?
I cannot get mine to work. My husband has tried it and it worked. I don’t know what I am doing wrong. I was literally on my hands and knees in my driveway looking for the sensor thinking if I knew exactly where to “kick” it might help…but nothing!!
Quick, Less than a second, as fast as you can. Straight in, straight back. It's kind of a dance move I guess lol. I'm finding too if I kiss the bottom of the bumper with the top of my shoe it works more reliably. Will give the quick kick a try. Hands-Free Liftgate feature can be turned on/off with the Uconnect systemI want to know how to turn it off.
Actually that happened to me several times yesterday with the pressure washer. Made me wonder what happens going through an automated Car Wash. Probably okay since key fob would be inside the car.I actually want to know how to turn it off. I've had the opposite experience where it can be too sensitive sometimes, and I accidentally opened the vehicle with pressure sprayer while washing it. I realized it quick enough to stop spraying and hold the trunk closed thankfully.
The car has to be in Park in order to open the trunk, so going through the automictic car wash won't allow it to open since it is in N.Actually that happened to me several times yesterday with the pressure washer. Mine almost never works when it's locked (key in pocket, arms full of course). They replaced my sensor and it improved, but it's still always something of a surprise when it actually works.I also found it works best when the jeep is locked 🔒. For some reason it works better when it's not unlocked.
