Grand Cherokee L - HVAC issue

Took ownership of a Grand Cherokee L Limited Thursday evening. Friday morning the HVAC started randomly blowing hot air at full speed when on any temp setting besides LO. It does it both when on sync and not sync'd, and will randomly pick driver or passenger side (never both). Rear HVAC seems to be fine. I have reset Uconnect system and that did not help. They only way to drive comfortably is to set to LO on both sides, and switch to manual fan adjustment.

The dealer could not get me in until Wednesday.

Any ideas?

Strangely this has actually happens to me in my 2005 WK occasionally. I'm not 100% on this, but seems to coincide with the blend door actuation. When it switches from recirculated to fresh air (outside) air and it's 90º+ outside it's very obvious. I don't know why it changes from recirc to fresh though, because it does it on it's own randomly. I tallied it up to just being an older car at this point, but perhaps it's something with a sensor with the interior temperature sensors causing the actuator to engage?

Curious if anyone else with the WL has noticed a change on the recirc setting when it happens to them.
