My GCL is at the dealer for the recall, a RRT (whatever that is) and a UConnect update.
Not biggies to me, but I do have another issue I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed: When I drive at about 37-39 mph and the Jeep goes into 7th gear I feel a very distinct vibration in the steering wheel and the accelerator pedal. I can make it go away by paddle shifting into 6th gear or 8th gear.
Any input would be helpful because as usual, the dealer is not experiencing this issue or as it goes: "We don't feel it so therefore there is no problem."
V6 or V8? Read the other thread about MDS issues on the hemi. If it vibrates on "D" and NOT while in manual, it is either a Hemi MDS issue OR a torque converter lockup clutch issue. Hemis had both MDS and torque converter issues. I suspect you have a hemi. V6's only torque converters as they have no MDS. Vibration was seen in a few V6's, but mostly Hemi's. Some torque converters needed replaced previously, some were band aided with a software fix. A torque converter is a rotating mass that is assembled from parts from the lowest bidder. It can be out of balance, but would vibrate all the time and increase with engine speed. The lockup clutch issue is due to chatter/engine surging by engaging it too low of rpm/high engine load. FCA has been playing the "how low can I go" game for decades and keep losing. It helps efficiency/fuel economy. Seeing how they cant meet EPA in real world, this is why the keep trying.
Strange shifting, slipping, grinding, jerking, are all signs of true transmission issues. WK2 platform had a valve body replacement TSB due to harsh shifting from P to D/P to R/R to P, this was years after launch. It literally would slam hard once the fluid was hot. Some transmissions got replaced also. This is why engine/transmission break in is so important off the lot. It is plausible that this new platform might have some transmission issues. Grand Wagoneer transfer cases and rear ends are locking up at 1000 miles, with dealers begging owners to tow them in due to the amount of damage that is being created. Literally chunks of metal. If Jeep screwed up that bad on a $100K+ vehicle, I am sure a transmission problem is likely. The transmission is a ZF 8HP70(Hemi) / 850RE (V6) that has been used since 2011 for Hemi and 2017 for V6, so not brand new. But all the software/interface modules are. The V6 8 speed did have some teething issues.
