There have been a few posts on this. The Mopar ones look a little silly to me given how high they are. Yakima and rhino rack both offer options. Nothing from Thule yet. I've been on the fence, the rhino rack ones don't look too bad.

Attached are some pics of factory cross bars with a Thule Motion XT XL cargo box.

For this particular cargo box, the rear cross bar has to be mounted in the position closer to the front of the vehicle (their are two rear mounting positions). There is plenty of clearance for the rear cargo hatch to open and the box does not block the shark fin antenna.

Specs on the stock cross bars call for them to be torqued to 7 Nm (5.16 ft lb / 61.95 in-lb).

Damn... Wish I'd had seen some of the after market options before getting the factory bars. The factory bars look like a bad toupe on a bald man. Too tall and and square.

This is a very similar setup that I am looking into. Do you know if the XXL box will fit on our Jeep or find the XL fits well?
I almost bought the XXL, but decided against it at the last minute. I believe the XXL will fit the roof of the WL Jeep and can be positioned such that the rear hatch will open without clearance problems.

My concern with it was being able to clear my garage door when installed. I wanted to be able to load from inside the garage and drive in and out without worry. When I calculated the height of the Jeep, the height of the factory bars and the height of the XXL, it was to close for comfort. The XL that I ended up buying clears my garage door no problem. It is possible some of the after market cross bars offered (or will be offered in the future) will help lower the overall height.

Seemed like the Yakima cross bar setup was about double the price of the factory Jeep bars. I don't believe Thule had part numbers for cross bars fitting the WL Jeep when I was looking to buy in early September.

I’m planning on going the stock cross bars due to the reasons you mentioned. Yakima is pricier and I emailed Thule and they don’t have anything to offer as of yet. Where did you purchase your cargo box from? Thule is out of stock on their website.

Thule USA was out of stock back in September too. Thule also appears to add a $150 oversize shipping and handling fee. I found the XL in stock at etrailer.com out of Missouri with free freight shipping to my home. The box arrived three weeks later well packaged and in perfect condition. Based on this and other purchases made from this company, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. They also have helpful information and videos related to the products they sell.

Just returned from a 5 day trip (Mid-Michigan to Atlanta Georgia) which was the maiden voyage with the Thule Motion XT XL cargo box mounted to factory Jeep cross bars. I was very pleased with the results. We were able to get almost all of the cargo out of the passenger compartment (5 carry on suitcases and few other miscellaneous items). With 5 people and the cargo box full, MPG average was 20.6. The box generates some wind noise, but it wasn't objectionable. The clamps remained tight throughout the trip and there were no issues with the box whatsoever. A three step stool is useful for loading and unloading. Luckily, I had access to one on both ends of the trip.

Rhino Racks low rise towers and bars (46"+) if you don't want it to look like a shopping basket (IMO). Use the Jeep Compass 'attachments' to fit it to the OEM rails. Thule makes the OEM bars, and Yakima also has a set, but they put a lot more room between the roof and rack than necessary IMO. I have the Yakima bars currently, but will be installing the Rhino Rack version shortly...

I believe Mopar crossbars are great for the brand, but I found more options of crossbars on YouTube.
Check this one:
I chose that style cross bar over the Mopar OEM or Yakima because I didn’t like the height of the Mopar bars or the cost of Yakima. Despite being sourced in China they have a better quality materials (all aluminum, no plastic) and finish (lightly textured black). The HW is all stainless. The lower profile clears the tilting sunroof in my SR but you need to be careful with clearance of clamping attachments. At $200 on Amazon it was worth a chance and I’m happy.

This is the link I bought. I contacted the seller and Snailfly told me they will also offer same style crossbar like Mopar and running boards, maybe 2 months or so. I don't like crossbar too high, so I got this low profile crossbar. Looks Good !

I tried looking, but couldn't find the answer. Does anyone have the exact height of the OEM Mopar cross bars?

I don't know the OEM height. I thought I saw it posted in a thread here. The bottom of my Yakima bars are exactly 5" above the roof, for reference. I'll measure the new Rhino Rack height when I get them installed this weekend. The "SNIXWOO" :)LOL:) bars posted above definitely look a bit lower (better, IMO). They're the lowest I think I've seen in the 'flush bar'(no protruding bar ends) category. Would be good to know a measurement though.

The 'china' crossbars sold on ebay and by snailfly on Amazon are only .6" lower than the MOPAR crossbars. There's really no discernible difference.

They LOOK lower due to the end brackets being less bulky, but they really arent. Both types are made to clear the sunroof so they cant be all that low to begin with.
