Battery Type?

I have a Summit V6 and have experienced the same battery drain that others have written about. I bought a battery charger and have to choose between standard and AGM battery and haven't been able to find a source stating the type of battery on the WL. Any insight would be welcome. Thanks.. I have an appointment at the dealer tomorrow.

Both batteries are AGM.

I have the Summit V6 as well and I have the same battery drain issue, I just dropped it off at the dealer, any idea what the problem is?

I've read elsewhere in the forum that it's related to the rear latch. My battery is so dead (less than 7 volts) I can't even charge it or jump it. May have to have it towed. The remote battery posts are terrible for a good jumper cable connection.

I took my Jeep to have the Hitch and Harness installed that was missing from the "tow prep" package and they called me today saying there is a problem with the auxiliary battery and so far they can't figure it out. I tried to mention the rear latch and gave them the star case number but they didn't really seem interested. Let's see how long it takes before I get my jeep back.

We may have been the first, second or third GCL Summit that had this issue. Dealer escalated really quickly through their regional Stelantis leadership, especially since the first incident with the dead battery happened within the first three days of ownership, and it visited the dealer 3 times within a week, who thought it was just faulty batteries. It was definitely the rear latch, they helped connect us with a Stelantis Retention specialist, who helped escalate and get us the parts needed to fix the issue. Went about three weeks with a rental/loaner from the dealer while waiting for the part since there was no surplus at the time. We have had the vehicle back for some time now, added over 1k miles on it and no issue whatsoever at this point.

Thanks for your response. The dealer as expected did fit me in off an appointment the same day and I got jeep back the next day, they replaced the battery indicating that the battery was defective and wouldn’t hold a charge. They fixed some other issues like the 3 row seat issue and the recall on the radio. I hope the battery is the real issue, but at this point I’m a little doubtful, therefore I will be documenting and video recording every time I go to start the Jeep, I will be taking it back to dealer on Friday so that they can test the battery for voltage. I will provide update on Friday.

Hello Kate,
Thanks for your reply!

So I got my Jeep back today and the only information I got is that "they had to replace a fuse" When I asked for documentation my service representative told me that I was being difficult and everything is covered under warranty so I don't really need documentation. I pushed a bit more and am supposed to receive documentation later today via email. In @JeepCares opinion is this normal to have work performed and be refused documentation? Do I have unrealistic expectations?

Sadly I cannot speculate on that. Each dealer is independently owned and operated so I assume that is a choice they made on their end. We recommend speaking to them further to understand their specific process.

Did anyone ever figure out what group size these batteries are, and whether anything larger might fit?

I don't know how Jeeps work these days, but a lot of modern cars have to have specific battery information coded into the system when they're replaced. I'm just wondering if there is any room to upgrade the batteries with higher capacity units, if anyone has figured that out?

I can't even seem to find any information on what battery types these use. It would be nice, in vehicles without stop/start, to add a second battery for backup a la dual battery system.
