2021 L - Rattle in middle row

I recently purchased a 2021 L and am experiencing a noticeable rattle coming from the middle row. It almost sounds like the seat isn't properly bolted in. Has anyone else experienced this? I took it to the dealership and the technician said he's heard it in 2 other Ls at his dealership. I don't know whether this is a design flaw or a defect, but would be interested to know if anyone else has experience this.

I know my passenger side middle row seat rattles, but it probably my son’s car seat that’s rattling.

I do have a rattle on driver side rear door at the bottom of the “wood” trim at the top of the door, going to resolve it with some double-sided tape

My first thought was a car-seat rattle, but I removed those and the noise is still there. The dealer located the rattle as coming from the "60" in the 60/40 bench, but is taking the position that it's a "normal" car rattle. Very frustrating so far.

Hey, ceisold2. Since it has been a few days, are you still in need of assistance with this? If so, send us a private message with more details on your appointment to get started.

I have a similar rattle coming from somewhere in the back. I can’t tell if it’s the middle row (I also have the 60/40 split) or something else. It’s quite loud and sounds like metal on metal (not plastic rubbing, which I also hear coming from the second row passenger side). Going to try to get into the dealership in the next week or two. I’ll be curious to know if anyone discovers the culprit.

Our middle row passenger captain seat is lose and I diagnosed the rattle to be the plastic handle at the top of the seat by the headrest that you pull up in order for the seat to flip forward. I put tension on it with a pc of duct tape and that stopped it. 55k car with duct tape preventing a rattle.

I also have a rattling sound coming from that area. initially, I thought it was the rear passenger's sunshade but when I ran some tests, it wasn't it. I also have the impression the passenger's second row captain's chair is lose. It certainly 'moves' more than the other one.

It improved a bit after I covered the mic to reduce that bass sound from the noise cancellation system.

My limited cost around $50k and compared to the other cars in the price range, the Jeep has a lot less rattles. I had a 2020 Highlander before this and the Highlander used to rattle a lot more. It doesn't bother me as much

Ok, I think I figured my issue out. I sourced the rattles to be coming from the middle-row latches at the base of the seats—those that, once released, allow access to the third row. Perhaps that makes sense given 2021jgcl’s success with securing the latch release.

Anyway, I just put a few strips of electrical tape at the base to prevent the metal-on-metal contact. It’s been about two weeks and the rattles seem to be gone.

Hope this helps anyone still experiencing this issue.
