WiFi Update?

So I have a 2023 GC Overland as in my signature. Today it said there is a map update and do I want to download the update via WiFi. I said OK and it proceeded to show me the WiFi networks in my area and mine was on the list so I selected it. The Uconnect seems to have no way to configure the WiFi, does it use 2.4 GHz, 5.0 GHz, what sort of encryption does it support, 80211ac, nothing. All it asked me for was the WiFi PW and there was no way to see what I was typing. I was never able to connect. So I changed my WiFi PW to only 8 digits to minimize errors and it still refused to connect. I gave up. Anyone ever use this feature and if it worked, did you do anything special. My WiFi is WPA2 encryption with PSK and has 2.4 and 5 GHz, 80211ac. Pretty standard.

I finally got my Jeep to connect to WiFi. It claims it is updating the maps but after 2 days, it still claims that so who knows. It may not actually work. The whole screen locked up once when inputting the WiFi PW but shutting the car off and back on got it back. Uconnect 5 seems a bit buggy to me.

even after 3 model years...imagine that 😫
So far I am not a fan of this Uconnect 5 although some seem to love it. This is the 1st one I have had. The whole center console is a fingerprint magnet.

Well it claims my maps have been updated after several days but no way to really know. Suffice to say, Uconnect 5 is not all there yet. This stuff is way too complex, normal people will never learn how this works unless you spend a lot of time with it. I don't think they designed these systems for normal people at all. I can figure it out as I worked in IT for 35 years and consider it a challenge. I am getting pretty good at navigating the Uconnect screens now.
