What's the deal with the "autobrake" function when parked?

I've had a number of instances where I put the vehicle in park, and then when I try to drive, the 'autobrake' is on and I can't move the car. Can't find a button to turn it off, either.

Seatbelt on, door closed, and the car won't move. It's usually a problem when parked somewhere, when I try to get in and go, but it happened the other day at a light when I got out quickly to clear some ice from the wipers (which are horrible in winter). I jumped back in and had people honking at me because I couldn't go when the light turned green (car absolutely would NOT move), and I had to cycle the ignition on and off to get it to go anywhere. I really hate the whole system, but I'm wondering if mine is defective, or if there's something I'm 'doing wrong' that is causing it to do this, or if there is a way to turn it all off???

Thanks in advance for any insight.

It's a great feature imo. When I don't have it enable and I turn the dial I always feel some tension coming out of Park, I don't like that and one day I wonder if the dial won't get it out of Park.

It is a little tricky when you first start the car and move out of Park. Basically you have to have your seat belt on before moving out of Park. If you don't do this you can just click the ebrake button under the dash lower left.

If you have your seat belts on and if the doors are closed, when you turn the gear knob to "D" with the brake pedal pushed, the automatic ebrake should come off automatically. If it does not come off for some reason, you can push the ebrake button on the lower left of the dash and that should disengage the ebrake. However, you have to make sure you have stepped on the brake pedal to manually disengage the ebrake by pushing the button.

Turn it off using Vehicle Settings in Uconnect. It’s only happened to me once. A total PITA feature.
This seems like the best answer. Hopefully I can do that once they replace my broken Uconnect system. At the moment I can't access any of the settings ( for over three weeks now, parts maybe arriving mid or late January )
