V8 MPH

I’m looking at a V8 SR but can’t understand that the MPG is worse than a Yukon. Drives me a bit crazy. That said, what’s everyone getting in their V8, and does the eco mode have real impact on MPG?

FYI, I want to V8 for occasional towing.

we are getting like 16.8 around town .... which is worse than 2009 RAM with the same engine.
We didn't buy it for gas mileage though. We bought it for towing and highway acumen

Full disclosure - I do not drive to optimize fuel economy. My average MPG after 3,000 miles is 16.7 combined highway, city driving. I'd say 65% City / 35% Highway.

I did go fishing and on a 500-mile trip that was mostly highway and my MPG was 21.9 (average speed 75-85mph - Again, that's me hammering it on onramps because it's fun.

I had 2 Grand WK2 Grand Cherokee V6's and whenever I had people in the car I was embarrassed by the lack of power. Also, towing was subpar. I'm pretty happy with the V8 and I feel like some of my planned mods (intake, chip, exhaust) will help fuel economy slightly.

I have no high hopes of this thing EVER being even remotely good on fuel - In fact it's terrible. I fill it up constantly, she's a thirsty truck...But I'm really happy with my choice.
