True Car charge @ Gupton Motors

Anyone looking to purchase a vehicle from Gupton Motors in Springfield TN don't log onto True Car as Gupton will charge you up to 500.00 even if you don't get a discount certificate from True Car for Gupton motors. You have to wait at least 1 year if you have logged onto the True Car website before Gupton will not charge you. My sales rep claimed that True Car charges the dealership 500.00 per car sale. kind of weird since another sales rep at Gupton stated they only charge 300.00 if you used True Car. Make sure to get everything in writing if you are going to use Gupton Motors. Gupton does state this upfront but my sales rep said it would be removed at time of purchase as it would be treated as a rebate. Not the case.

Damn that SUCKS. I had a similar story when pricing out my wife's Ford Explorer to determine trade in to Jeep vs private party sale when I was building/ordering her GCL Summit. Once you enter a cars value WITH the VIN you have your stuff locked in and viewable by any dealership that uses TrueCar. Meaning - anyone of them will see the offer given and won't give you a better deal.

I wonder if you can request TrueCar to delete your personal information from their systems. I know California residents have really good privacy laws in place that make it so they have to comply. I'm not sure about other states though.

The thing of it all was I didn't know that they would pull the Truecar card on me. They had access to a data base that showed I had logged onto Truecar that apparently lasts for a whole year. Now I can understand having to pay the dealership if they are actually charged by Truecar but if they are not because you didn't use it for this specific dealer, then this is the problem I am talking about. Truecar never should have been an issue since I didn't use it to get a price from the selling dealer. It's all a scam.

Seems like this is all of Truecars fault. But I don't think they charge the dealer at least that much for a sale of a vehicle. In fact I can't be certain that Gupton just used Truecar as an excuse to get the extra money out of me. Seems plausible since they are selling at such a low cost. In the end, I got a good vehicle at a decent cost. Whether I go back to them again is a different story. I will never use Truecar again though.

TrueCar must be making a lot of money for the dealerships or they would not be using them as much. other than the fact that they can just access data alone and use that against you is just wrong. I know dealers pay for this service but I don't think it's as much as quoted. I know I will never use TrueCar again if I can help it.

I am enjoying the ride though.... LOL
