Tire shine/ dressing

I know this isn’t technically a GCL question…. but does anyone have a favorite easy to find tire shine/dressing that gives tires a nice look that will not sling all over the vehicle when driving. Not sure whether a spray or rub on would be best to control this. Specifically looking for a product I can pick up at Walmart, or an auto parts store .

I like car guys tire shine. It comes with a mitt style applicator to rub on the tires, it’s not as glossy/shiny but you still get that dark black with NO sling, I got mine on Amazon but I think I seen it on Walmarts site too. Before that I’ve tried meguiars hot shine spray, this stuff makes your tires look AWESOME in my opinion, but It slings horribly. Last time I did my pickup tires with it, let it sit 3 days in the garage and still had sling. Can says to spray tires and let air dry but that doesn’t work. I’m sure I could wipe some away but you’d probably lose some of the gloss

Great question. I JUST finished doing this myself with a normal spray bottle of armor all. Having a sponge or mitt applicator would be much better in my opinion. Look forward to seeing more replies to your post!

I use this product and it has minimal sling. I do use a applicator to coat the tires. Let it sit for a few mins and rewipe off any excess. Works good in my opinion. BB9A64F6-FCE0-44E5-B4B8-98CFAD4B7DBB.jpeg

The prevailing opinions here are pointing me in the direction of an applicator of some sort vs spray on.
Wonder if a fan blowing on each tire after application would further reduce sling?

I have a hunch that with the sprays, naturally some of it will get on the wheel and probably collect in hard to reach places like tight spots in the spokes or where the rim meets the tire. With the applicator you know exactly where you’re putting it. I like the idea of a fan or maybe even a leaf blower if you use a spray style though. Might have to try that

I use Amor All Tire Shine because you can spray on a wet or dry tire. Nice gloss, slings somewhat, but I wait an hour or two and then give it a wipe to soak up excess. Caution, it stain driveways for a while. Put something under the tire, do it on the street, or do half the tire, move it and do the other half.

I use Meguiars ultimate insane tire shine... Yes, it's actually insane. It's probably the best one I've found and I used to detail cars on the side.

LPT: The biggest thing you want to do is let it sit on the tire after applying. Don't go drive it right away - The longer the better.

I usually wash my car in the evening and let the tire shine sit overnight - lasts WAY longer.

Great question. If you have a white car do not use oil based tire shine. Always use water based shine. Oild based can leave a permanent yellow/brown stains on your white paint. Only use water based, water based also does not cause build up.

I just use a rag to wipe it down after application of ArmorAll. Since, any residual liquid that was there gets picked up by the rag, no slinging of product.
