Summit vs. Overland

Other than the Off-Road package is there any advantage to optioning out an Overland as opposed to going with the Summit? It would seem to me that there wouldn't be since there are a few features on the Summit (Drowsy Driver, Park Assist, Traf. Sign Recog.) that are not available to get on the Overland. When you add the packages even without the Off-Road you exceed the price of the Summit so I'm wondering if there is a reason some people would pay that.

The Summit is only available to configure online w/ the black roof, the Overland has the body color roof. My preference is for body color.

IMO, the minor bells / whistles for the Summit is not important, making the (currently unobtainium) Overland a better choice for my vehicle.

Looks like you missed a few. Smooth verses Quilted leather, real wood interior trim, and I believe the 360 degree camera. Tricking out the Overland would cost more than just ordering the Summit, in my opinion.

I ordered Summit 4x4 L with msrp of $64845.Only option I added was second row bench $750 since all the major options that are optional on overland are standard such as
Surround view
Parallel and perpendicular assist
Quilted leather bolsters
Black painted roof
10.1 inch screen
Massage seats
Ventilation seats
Front Off- road camera
12 way power front seats

Overland if equipped with all these options is about $45 more with only major advantage of 19speaker audio which is part of the 10.1 inch speaker upgrade option. In fact off-road camera option in overland requires advance pro tech package which makes overland almost $2000 more expensive than summit.

I have been looking at both myself. Last night i booked the used values on both on KBB for 2021 optioned out. The Summitt booked for 5k more than the overland.

Both are nice. Neither are an investment. This is my last vehicle and I prefer the Overland for many reasons. It is possible / likely that a short term ownership is better financially to select the Summit.

I have a 2021 GCL Summit and just wanted to point out that it doesn't have a tow eye on the front. I see that you are comparing with Overland with off road package so may this is something that affects you specially if you are planning on going off roading.

Summit also has eLSD standard but in overland you have to get the off-road package. Unless going for a serious off-roading and you prefer the skid plates, all you miss in summit is the fatter all terrain tires.

I ordered an Overland V8 a couple months back (still waiting). I upgraded screen to 10.1" (which by upgrading this package also included upgrading the stereo to the McIntosh and a few other upgrades), added V8 hemi and the finishing package (front and rear mudflaps), stuck with the white color (no added cost). My price came out a few thousand cheaper than the summit. Really is a personal preference on what options are important to you. I didn't want the passenger screen and a couple other things like massage seats didn't matter to me. I think someone said it best when they said it's not an investment. I know I will never get my money out of it (well maybe right now, with the cost of used cars )

I ordered an Overland back in august and at the time they wouldn't allow me to get the offroad package but that wasn't a big deal to me. I ended up getting the air suspension when many others didn't and it still looks like air suspension is not even an option according to their website when you build one. I took delivery in late october but sold it two weeks ago. I liked the jeep but realized it was the wrong decision to make and made the tough decision to take a small loss now and sell it rather than wait many years to do so. My biggest pet peeve with the jeep was the piano black shiny plastic on the console. I don't know why manufacturers think this is ok to use other than it looks great the first day. I'm super careful and I still had very fine scratches on mine.
At the time I ordered I didn't even consider a summit as I didn't like the looks and features as much as I did the overland. I think the overland for what you get is a great upgrade over limited. sucks for the people ordering now and not even getting air suspension and still paying way more than I paid for mine.

Piano black is just a shiny piece of plastic which can easily be vinyl wrapped in matte black or even carbon fiber or wood trim. It’s a very simple DIY thing but even if getting it done professionally we are talking no more than couple of 100’s at most.

I ordered the Overland GCL 2 row back in February and it has air suspension, I'm not sure when it was added to the Overland package but I got it.

It's always been a part of the overland package unless they were out of chips and for a certain time period they weren't shipping them with air suspension. I think it's wrong of jeep to not really lower the price of the units that didn't get air suspension as that is a very costly setup to include and for $750 discount is a joke for anyone that didn't get air suspension. I miss my massaging seats but don't really miss the jeep or the $100 fillups. Several years from now when they come out with a fully electric version I may reconsider but for now I won't be buying another Chrysler products.

I think the overland package all together is a joke since without the off road package most things standard in non summit reserve trim of summit are optional and must have for many. Once added it is more expensive than the base summit with no options.
Some of the most important options in overland are 10.1 inch screen, front off road camera, massage seats , surround view camera and limited slip diff. There are more options that are standard on summit as well but these are key ones. Once added it becomes more expensive than base summit.
These options are not individual options. You have to get all kinds of packages to get them. Just add surround view option and 10.1 inch screen and you are over the base price of summit.

My brother has an Overland 2021 V8, nothing was deleted. QL was never deleted from V8
I have an Overland 2022 V6, all packages, came with the QL.

The Overland Vs Summit comes down to appearance. In my case I can't stand the wheels of the standard Summit. Overland wheels look much better to me. But the two tone on Summit, unless you do black, looks better than Overland.
If you upgrade to Summit Reserve which does have nice wheels then not only are you paying a ton of money for appearance, then you lose the Light steel gray interior that the Overland offers. SR is only Black or Tupelo. Std Summit gray interior has the quilted leather, prefer the clean look of the Overland.

Elsabito - couldn’t agree more regarding your assessment on the Summit wheels. Yes - I know I can go buy aftermarket but shouldn’t have to start ownership with that being planned. I do prefer the overall aesthetics of the Overland to the Summit.

Summit’s wheels remind me of BMW m4 challenge spoke wheels from the past. It’s personal preference. However too many things standard in summit vs optional in overland are a no brainer IMO. I rather compromise on the shape of rims in exchange for almost everything standard on summit. Some of the things standard on summit can’t even be had on overland such as parallel and perpendicular parking, no cost black roof, eLSD without off road group ( which gives fatter 18”tires as compared to 20”)
