Stop-start elim

For those like me who want to elim stop start for free, I’m happy to report that the same mod I use on the WK2 platform also works on the L. Simply open the hood and remove the plastic trim in the center. You will see a plunger connected to a wiring harness towards the middle/driver side. Simply unplug the harness or remove the plunger from its hole. I opted for the latter so i didnt get dirt/debris in open harness.

This tricks car into thinking hood is open and therefore its never ready to stop/start. You will have an error msg and corresponding light in your cluster (A with half circle and exclamation pt).

Does this effect ability to remote start (given the car thinks the hood is open?)
That’s a good question. I know our previous Ford Explorer and my f150 required the hood to be closed in order to remote start as it was all connected to the security system.

What is the advantage to disabling start/stop ?
Besides eliminating having to constantly disable using the button - which is a PIA. Reduce wear on starter and engine components - the only reason manufacturers created this "feature" is to help hit the CAFE requirements.
