Got a 2021 Overland picked out. Gotta tell ya, after reading this forum, I am a bit leery about going thru with it. I will be buying a unit off the lot. One of the few around these parts that still has the quadra lift and no delete.
I want to insure that the Jeep i am going to get is going to be as trouble free as possible. One of the conditions of sale for me is that all of the updates be done. You would think that this would be automatic , but who knows. How can I verify that this has been done. Secondly, I WILL take it on an extensive road test, to see if any of the issues posted on here pop up. Of course, this will all have to be done before anything is signed, or any money is exchanged.
Any other thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I can't believe the prices, almost twice the price of my 2015 Dodge Durangp limited!!!

6600 miles on my Overland and other than the Uconnect issues, it has been perfect!

I'm at around 2K miles on my Altitude and it's been great so far. Only had some Uconnect issues by the first week of ownership but after those were sorted out, no more issues. (knocking wood)

Statistically speaking you should be good.
We will see posts here that are majority of people having issues, that's expected.
I agree some issues could have been prevented and are part of a new plant producing a new model.
Overall it should be Ok, just as important of having a perfect "defect free vehicle" is having a good dealer that will support you if any issues arise. This is critical, so make sure you research your dealer and that you get them to commit on support if issues arise.

That being said, note that if you are buying off the lot and it has the QL then is probably the initial batches that are likely to have a few more issues that units being shipped today.
What is the production date on your window sticker? You can see it above the lower left barcode.

Generally speaking, when people have nothing to say one way or another they tend not to post simply to praise something. It’s where there are issues that people will post something. The negative will always appear as precedent because people will post about them. I think that a better indicator will be referencing how many GC L owners that there are vs. how many have issues. Ive had one on order since late May/early June that just went to shipping status. I talked to my service department as well as a couple other owners about some of these issues and, while they’ve all heard about the issues, they’ve not seen them in any kind of significance (with the exception of the Car Play issues).

overland here and only minor issues. Creak in the right passenger door area, carplay would disconnect occasionally but always seemed to come back with a radio reset. Has not done this since the software update. As far as verifying the update, you can check the software version number on the system information screen. I believe it should have “98” towards the end of the string of numbers. But even if it’s not done it’s a simple over the air update, wouldn’t worry too much about it. Also my build date is 9-09 and it does have the quadra lift. It’s a V8 tho so that might be the reason.
