Software Update

So I get a call from Hazel today with Jeep. I’ve had a case open since we got the vehicle for the following

1. No traffic
2. Speed limit not displaying on HUD nor the navigation screen in the dash.
3. Weather Integration

Hazel said that there will be a major software update pushed to everyone in the coming weeks. She didn’t have a specific date but said the software package was being created for delivery. She wasn’t sure if it would be a self install or dealer.

I work in software development so I hope there was a full regression test completed prior to this package. I’m fearful of what will break next but wanted everyone to know that this was headed yalls way.

I assume you have an Overland.

They obviously missed these features, so I'm glad they are pushing them OTA.
Just hope they dont mess up anything else, my Uconnect features on 2022 Overland L have been working with no issues.

He didn't say it was coming OTA.

Even with OTA who knows what will happen. My Uconnect is stuck on v.98 and wont auto-OTA-update to v.99 even though I have my wifi password connected.

👆🏻Pushed to everyone is most likely OTA.

I picked up my 22 Overland yesterday and my dealer rep told me the same thing. He said they didn’t have any further ETA but said he was told it was coming “soon” I would love to have the extra features loaded.

To quote the posters statement: "She wasn't sure if it would be a self install or dealer".

FYI to everyone (like me) who has an Overland with these missing features, another owner has gotten Jeep to credit him the full $2k cost of the option group because they aren't providing all the features clearly detailed in the owners manual and marketing material. Jeep initially tried to tell him that where they wrote that our cars "can" display those things, "can", in the english language, means "may or may not" (according to Jeep's best wordsmiths, who are evidently former politicians).

It is so patently absurd and insulting, I cannot believe they even tried to tell a customer something so utterly stupid. If they want to get into the meaning of their words, they may as well have replied "just shut up, moron" to the customer. Because that is, in effect, what they said.

I don't know if the new software release will enable these features, but if it doesn't, everyone ought to be pushing on Jeep to make this right, one way or another. Jeep's bad faith and ill will are reprehensible, and I don't think it's at all unfair to point that out.

That’s interesting. I just went back into the package for the Overland and it specifically states this! The word “can” should mean “is able to” not “may or may not”

I filed an arbitration for my 21 Overland. Jeep’s initial written response was just as absurd and insulting. They stated misleading and irrelevant points. They said that since I had driven more than the average driver I shouldn’t complain. They even provided data showing what the average driver drives. They misstated the NC lemon law requirements. They tried to claim that all of my problems were caused by my professionally installed dash cam…without any evidence of this claim.
I rebutted each of their wild assertions point by point…the next day they agreed to repurchase my vehicle. I will always believe that their ploy was to rattle their saber and scrape me off.

I would imagine the people in the 'buyback' department are incentivized to block claims with whatever ridiculous BS they can pull out of their rear hatches to reduce buybacks, much like health insurance companies, and they have no shame, and few guidelines to constrain them.

My father is a retired attorney (I went to law school but never practiced), and when I told him they asserted that "can", in the English language, actually means "may or may not" he had a genuinely big laugh at the absurdity of that. They'll say anything, in the hopes that the person on the other end is the type to roll over and give up. I bet they avoid a lot of buyback claims that way, sadly, but probably not so much with people handing over $70k+ for cars.

I was told that a new OTA update is in the works. It is supposed to address my remote app functions not working. I have a '21, 10" screen.

It was supposed to roll out Q1 of this year, but it’s likely going to be first part of Q2 based on what I’ve heard.
