I wonder how much the dealer gets reimbursed under warranty for inspecting i.e. turning on lights and looking to see if the taillight side marker illuminates? I guess the NHTSA/FCA can't assume the vehicle owner is capable of this inspection. Glad to see they are on top of this as they first started investigating in January and seven months later came to this resolution of a voluntary recall inspection. Maybe I don't understand the complexity of this inspection. I doubt that I will make a special trip to the dealer over this. Once upon a time lights were inspected at each oil change for free. Sorry, because of the number of recalls on this vehicle and unresolved issues I may have become a bit sarcastic.
I looked at the housing of the back lights and on the side there is no light, it's just a red reflector. That might be what they're talking about needing to be repaired/replaced.
