Replacement Steps Taken

Our 70k vehicle with 5,100 miles on it is now in the shop. Air suspension crapped out on us. Felt like I was dragging my ass on the street like a dog on carpet. It will not raise and is at the lowest it will go. No errors. No warning sounds. Nothing. So now it sits in a shop for who knows how long until something is done. I informed the manager and also called my jeep rep I’ve been working with on the uconnect issues that I am requesting a replacement with a new 22 model at no cost or they buy it back completely. We shall see where this goes.

Also, they will update the uconnect as well. At this point, I honestly don’t care about the uconnect drama anymore.

“Mr. Mauldin, we can’t reproduce what you experienced but we trust what you are saying is correct”. to which I responded….”I brought the vehicle in to your shop with the rear end hiked up to the third red line and the front end on the first. So your management saw it. If it corrected itself after I left then that’s on y’all. The only option at this point is to buy it back”. “Mr. Mauldin, it will be ready for pick up Tuesday”. My wife is over it. She said today to just leave it there until something is done. Who on here was successful in the buyback or trade up to the 22 model? I need your advice on what you did that was successful.

You don’t get your vehicle bought back because you had only one problem and one failed repair attempt, at least under the lemon law. They will ignore you and anyone else who has one problem.

Mine did the same thing yours did after towing (the only time I towed anything with it). Dealer reset the code and back to normal, but I had to drive it all weekend with the front on the bump stops and the rear jacked up. I would think it should reset itself bereft of another problem, but it wouldn’t.

I’m getting mine bought back, but I’ve had a very long list of problems.

Most states lemon laws allow the manufacturer 3 attempts to repair a given issue, or 30 days cumulative in the shop, before the lemon law is triggered.

But no manufacturer has ever bought back a car after resetting an air suspension once. You’re a long way from even mouthing the word ‘lemon’, unless you have a lot more problems than that.

Check the lemon law and call a lemon law lawyer for a free consult if you want to know more. Laws vary a bit by state.

Google your state's lemon laws and read them in full. If you think you qualify, call a lemon law lawyer and show them your repair records, and they will tell you if you're anywhere close to meeting any of the various hurdles. The lemon law lawyers generally handle the cases without payment from you, because the manufacturer will pay their fees. They won't take your case if they don't think it qualifies, but they will tell you what you need to do going forward to help prove your case.

I’m here to pick up the vehicle.
1. They were to have updated the uconnect to the latest version. The call yesterday saying the vehicle was ready to pick up stated that it was done.
2. They were to put back in the front parking sensor that fell out. The call yesterday stated it was done.
3. They were to fix the rough transition out of first gear. The call yesterday said it was fixed.
4. They were to fix the suspension. The call yesterday said it was done.

1. Not fixed. Still old version.
2. Not fixed. Sensor still missing. Now it will be 4 weeks to fix it.
3. No code was thrown so they couldn’t fix it.
4. No code was thrown so they couldn’t fix it. Eventhough I brought it in where the rear lifted but the front was still at its lowest.

Theybhave had my damn vehicle for over a week. What have they been doing??? So now I sit here trying to get answers. I can act like an idiot but won’t get anything accomplished. So I’m trying to understand their reasoning as to why nothing is done eventhough I was told yesterday “mr. Mauldin, we’ve fixed everything. You can pick up your jeep”.

That's infuriating (being lied to, especially). It wouldn't qualify for a lemon buyback yet, though.

Email the above to the dealer's service manager and wait for a reply. Then open a case with Jeep Customer Care at corporate once you get their response. Even if you're not impressed with Jeep corporate's response/handling, this creates a paper trail that, in my experience, they will take more seriously if things don't end up getting resolved.

Also, go to a different dealer, apparently. If you have another dealer anywhere nearby, that is. Unless, of course, you want to get rid of it, in which case meeting the 'three failed repair attempts of the same issue' prong of the lemon law (if that's what it is in your state) will happen faster, since that dealer apparently only pretends to fix things.

So after 2 additional hours at the dealership today, they were able to update uconnect. Which was all they could do. I can confirm that the latest version does NOT fix the traffic issues, weather app, display of speed limit sign in the hud or instrument cluster. So, yeah…all that promise for just what?

The update killed the navigation map in the instrument cluster.

If it is the .99 update, that is from November or so. And it fixed nothing.

Another thing that’s broken with the latest update, we can no longer select for the 360 camera to show. Tapping the icon does nothing.
