Rear under storage cover

In comparison to the "big issues" we have had to endure with our cars, this is surely small beans... but is anyone else irritated by the rear under storage cargo cover that doesn't fasten down? I keep my towing accessories and a couple of other items in there... If I hit a hard enough bump, it displaces. Best I can figure trying is some velcro tabs, but here in the south I anticipate the glue will loosen up when the car gets blazing hot. I am also irritated that it isn't hinged and doesn't have a string with a hook to hold it up.

I too prefer to have this cover hinged much like my old Durango was. I also wish the rear cargo area was similiarily sized as the Durango as I can’t store the same number of items. (Its simply too narrow and too shallow for the Grand Cherokee IMO) It appears that the spare tire and ‘flat tire’ toolbox location/design are the biggest reasons for the limited rear storage area.

In my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland the storage cover had a plastic hook you could attach to the upper frame to keep the cover open. I found this a very low cost and convenient feature. It's no longer on my 2022. I was disappointed not to see this. Also the cover had a catch when closed, also no longer available and we downsized from 4 grocery bag hooks to two grocery bag hooks. Instead we get an adjustable height cargo door which I really have no use for since I want it open all the way anyways.

I am going to brainstorm this one and see if I can come up with something practical to fix this...
