Rear license plate bracket or bottom screws

I’ve had the car wash catch my rear license plate and bend it up pretty badly. I noticed that I only have the top two screws to secure it and wonder if anyone has installed bottom screws or some kind of bracket. I have never had to do this before so have no idea what is the best course of action.

Any suggestions before I just buy something from the auto parts store and start drilling?

You would think that a vehicle in which so much detail was put in would have the two bottom fasteners.

Try this for the bottom two holes:

You can also get these at an auto parts store or a hardware store. After tightening the nylon nut on the nylon screw, the screw may have to be trimmed as not to hit the liftgate.

There are no bottom holes on the GCL to screw into. So I'm not sure there is anything you can do. Maybe get a sturdy license plate frame/holder to reinforce the structure a little.

That is so far the route I have tried but with it still only mounted at the top and with so much stand off from the body, it seems the entire assembly can still be easily pulled up.

I would be willing to drill into the body to install bottom screws but want it to be done right and not look homemade or introduce the potential for rust, water, etc from me just DIY.

You might want to add some soft rubber tabs to the bottom of the plate to keep it from bouncing off the paint. Good thing is... the tailgate never slams but closes softly.

So what I have is the top two screw mounts which appear to be a threaded insert with a little foam or other kind of material so they stick out about 1/2 inch. That is for the top. Then below them are two foam squares which do not have any threaded inserts and are different than the two top ones. These ones are definitely just foam so it doesn’t bounce and you can tell they are not intended to have a screw put in them. Furthermore these two squares are not lined up with where the bottom screws should be anyway.

If I could find another two pieces just like the top threaded ones I would just add those to the bottom.

So far all googling/going to autozone has not yielded any parts that look like the top squares with the threaded Inserts.

FCA could have made this a lot easier with screw holes in the bottom - FCA are you reading this? Just do it and add $5.00 to the price of the vehicle.

I have never owned another make of vehicle outside the Chrysler Family of vehicles. That said, every car, truck and SUV I have owned only had the two top Rear License Plate drilled holes for mounting purposes. I use Plastic screws to secure the bottom plate to the license plate frames I purchase from Mopar when I buy the vehicle, mount silicon tabs to the bodywork to keep the screws from hitting the paint, and banging on my liftgate. My neighbor uses sponge he cuts out, then two-way tapes it to the bodywork on his Escalade, works fine, and cheap.

There are many things they could do to make things easier, but elect not to! I am hopeful that Carlos Tavares will change the lackadaisical attitude of FCA in time, improve their Corporate and Dealer responses to problems that annoy! You are right, add $5.00 to the list price and drill two additional holes for the mounting of the License Plate.
Can anybody recommend a Good Dealership in Ventura Country, CA., or borderline to Los Angeles Country, and please don't recommend AutoNation in Santa Clarita, or Crown Chrysler/Jeep in Ventura.

Silicone plate frame + heavy duty double sided 3M tape.
I've ordered the silicon plate frames and thave the 3M tape waiting. That's the best solution. I wouldn't recommend drilling holes, due to shavings falling inside and rusting..
