I noticed when I was browsing the parts catalog, that they list rear fog lights for our GCL's Do any of the US market trucks have these, or are they for Over seas markets. I was thinking about ordering them and adding. Looks like they should fit right where the reflectors are now....BTW they are item #2 in the picture

I think #2 is the brake light, the rear fog lights on cars from oversea would be where #1 is located on U.S. cars. When installed they are basically another set of brake lights on the car. There is a company that makes them for the older Grand Cherokee SRT model.

There is the ability to put either in the same location in the bumper. Overseas cars have the fog lights. I think it may be mandatory in some countries. Just need reflectors in the USA...Part number 1 is a reflector, part number 2 is a fog light ....both go in the same spot in the bumper....

The bigger question to me is are they wired for it or do you have to hack your own wiring?

Not sure, but it wouldnt be too bad wiring up fog lights..........I will have to get under the GCL on the weekend and investigate......ALFA OBD lets you enable rear fog light outputs if the wiring is present. The factory switch may even be able to turn on the rear fogs.....

Did you need to use the bypass adapter for the ALFA OBD?

From what I read. The United States does not allow dual rear fog lights. Only one rear fog light may be illuminated on the drivers side.
  • In the USA, the left-side rear fog light will be wired
  • If that same chassis is used for a car in the UK, the right-side fog light will be wired instead

My Audi has two rear fogs lights that are stock.

Do they both turn on or just the driver's side? Since rear fog lights are extra bright like a brake light, the logic is not to have two rear fog lights illuminated because they might be mistaken for brake lights.

There doesn’t seem to be any US federal regulations specific to rear fog lights but state regulations could come into play. Per Europe/UN Regulations (see attachment) in Section 6.11. Rear fog lamp Regulation No. 38

To summarize reg. no. 38, a vehicle can be equipped with two or just one rear fog lights. If there is just one, it must be on the driver’s side.

I tried to order the fog lights last night and got an email stating that they would be on back order with no known ship date, so I cancelled the order. I'll wait a bit and try again...

Did you ever check for the wiring harness underneath?

I've seen Audis in the US with both rear fogs on, typically not in any remotely foggy conditions, of course. 🤦‍♂️

I do like having them (living in the mountains where it snows a lot), so I'm interested if anyone can figure out how to make them work (order parts from overseas, wire them into a blank location with the OEM switch, etc)
