Rear Floor Storage Compartment

I am shopping around to put together useful supplies and emergency kit to keep in the under floor storage compartment in the rear of the vehicle. This said, I am curious what existing owners have found fits well in there to organize and maximizing the use of this compartment. It also would be tremendously helpful to get the dimensions of this compartment while I wait for my GCL to be built.

I really like the hatch-mounted emergency kit in my Xterra. I'd like to figure out something similar for the GC. It's essentially two straps with clips that hold the first aid kit in place. That way, it's always immediately accessible, so you don't have to remove things from the cargo hold to deal with a medical emergency. The Xterra has a nice indented space for the kit, but it could be mounted on any hatch. People also mount net pouches on the rear hatch, but you probably can't put much weight in them with the motorized hatch opener.

You couldn't fit both of these on the GCL hatch without blocking the speakers, but one or the other would work. You could also put a small first aid kit in the zipper pouch.

Ah, that is nice. There is the side wells in the GCL -- but it doesn't have the accessibility since it might be blocked.

If you have the air suspension the compartment is tiny to make space for the air reservoirs. I keep an emergency reflector and three rolls of toilet paper on mine.

I have an Overland and the space is very small. I keep a tow strap, tire pressure gauge, rain poncho, and a roll of TP. I bought a trunk organizer that I have placed between the second row seats. It holds super market bags and some tools.

Under the trunk cover of my SR with air, I have an entire toolset 1/2", 3/8, and 1/4 including deep sockets, sets of allens & wrenches (metric & sae), machete, ballpin & rubber hammers, breaker bar, spare clothes/belt, gorilla tape/glue, ratchet straps, bungie cords, extreme velcro, scrap metal, telescoping magnet, and a few other odds and ends. The key is using zippered pouches.

I would love to see it if you get a chance to post a photo.
