Question on MSRP Sticker Price

I have seen an actual window sticker MSRP price differ from what is listed as the MSRP on a dealer’s website and the Jeep website for the same Vin numbered vehicle. Has anyone else encountered this or know why? The window sticker had a higher MSRP than on the website.

Are you sure the price at the dealer did not include any of their "add-ons"?

Also look for something that says "market adjustment" which is code for, "absurd pandemic era markup." Usually the only legitimate thing that might put it slightly over MSRP is the transport fee. Everything else falls in to the "dealer accessories" category which @GCOverland mentioned.

Do not pay over MSRP under any circumstance.

In my opinion, any dealership that is okay with charging a so called "market adjustment" doesn't care about their customers, and has no interest in return business. I couldn't imagine being happy six months down the line with a vehicle which I owe substantially more than it is worth.

I strongly recommend you check out the YAA community for some excellent advice.

I knew about both of those things that both of you mentioned. It’s not either. It’s very odd. To be clear it’s less money now than what the sticker msrp was. I can’t figure out why the msrp went down. So it’s not a case that they are charging more now, the msrp has actually gone down. That is not the price I was quoted by the way. I was quoted under both msrps. I just can’t figure out what would have lowered the original msrp. I could never get myself to pay a market adjustment ever. I looked at Tellurides several months ago and told the salesmen they are crazy. I said I have never paid msrp in my life for a car now you want me to pay$7500 more than sticker for a Kia?? Not happening.

I've never worked at a dealership, so someone who more experienced can hopefully answer this a with more authority. However, from what I know is that dealerships have aging policies where they lower the price of the vehicle a certain amount time on the lot. I believe this is fairly standard practice. However, most dealerships these days don't have inventory much past 30 days (or at all in some cases).

If it was a Jeep it would be pretty easy to pull the Monroney sticker yourself. Unfortunately, I don't think this is true for Kia or Hyundai.
