Out of State Registration

Wondering how registering a new vehicle in Texas was when the vehicle is purchased out of state. I have ordered a GCL from a dealer in Tennesse and will register in Texas... Can anyone tell me who fills out the paper work for the DMV? I am looking at an application for Texas Title and/or Registration form and it appears to have some dealer information and seller signature included on the form. Does the selling dealer fill this out or do I have to? I don't have a problem doing it, just wanted to make sure if the dealer is supposed to fill out and I take a copy to them or they find it themselves and take care of it.. Thanks for any answers I can get.

The selling dealer should take care it for you. They will give you a temporary plate numbers till they have their local rep do the paperwork in your state then mail you the registration and plates.

Wasn't sure since they are not charging me the Texas taxes. I Know I pay them when I get back to Texas. They did say they would give me a temp tag for Tennesse. I guess that is what the 499.00 processing fee is for.. thanx.

Actually the $499 processing fee is just a rip-off from all dealers to screw us out of more money.

For $500 they should be doing the paper work for you, they can collect TX taxes and pay it when they register it on your behalf. Otherwise have them remove the $500 fees since they won't do anything basically.

Just got a reply from the dealer... They fill out the paperwork and then send it to me so that I can take to the DMV an register. I'll take the 500.00 charge compared to upwards of 1000.00 that I have seen. Besides the 6% below invoice price works for me.
