No auto start/stop?

I picked up my new fully loaded 2022 GCSR Hemi last Friday. On the way home from the dealer I was a little confused, I looked for the auto start/stop disable button but couldn't find it and then realized the engine wasn't actually shutting down at stops anyway. When I got home I checked the OM for where the button was supposed to be located and found only a blank non working plug there.

So, to my pleasure I discovered my new Jeep doesn't have that annoying feature that I would have to shut off every time I drove the vehicle... 😎🥳

That is what I was wondering. Maybe Jeep decided if you opt for the V8 you want max HP and performance and are not as concerned about fuel economy.

V6 does not have cylinder shutdown capability so perhaps this is why it has ESS. My 2021 V6 almost never activates the ESS because I drive little and the ESS battery is never at a point where it works. A totally worthless system only there because of the EPA.

That's a good point. I do not like the V6 ESS and plan on turning it off every time I start. If I do that enough times will the ESS battery die thereby, effectively, disabling the ESS?

Can't you just disconnect the ESS battery? Or does that trigger warning messages? Mine didn't come with the system because of supply chain issues (thankfully) but I'm also wondering if I could put a second backup battery in there for backup/overland type uses? I will probably be turning mine in and ordering a new one due to all the problems, but the new one will probably have ESS I'm guessing. Would be nice to unplug it and have a second battery for backup/coach type uses, though.

Your's doesnt have the ESS because you have the V-8 Hemi engine. ESS has never been available with any V8

I simply LOVE the fact that my V8 doesn't have auto-stop-start. IMHO, that "feature" was only devised to help the OEM's meet the CAFE requirements. Not to mention the additional wear on starter and engine components that it causes. Lastly, being in AZ, having the engine running means the A/C compressor is also running keeping us cool. (rather than just having the fan run when the Auto Start/Stop kicks in.

Mine has cylider deactivation, but aside from the message on the screen saying I'm in 4 cylinder mode, I can't perceive it turning on/off. However the engine and exhaust are so muted on the GC you have to look at the tach to even see what RPM's you're turning. I wish it had a 'switchable' sport exhaust mode like many other cars, so I could actually use the paddles to shift without looking at the tach screen. As it is you can forget you're in 'manual shifting' mode and drive around at high RPM and not even notice, nor can you 'hear' when to shift. It's great for people who want silence all the time, but I'd at least like the option to hear my engine/exhaust for fun and for shifting cues.

No, turning it off does nothing to the ESS battery, Frankly I do not notice it these days since I drive little so it mostly never works anyway.

I haven't put my GC in sport mode yet, still taking it kind of easy for break in. I just sold my BMW M6 and when I used any of the performance settings on it, a bar tach was displayed on the heads up display (and with the tune I had on it with 690 HP, 650 ft. lbs. torque it had LOTS of performance). I assume the GC doesn't have an option to do this?

Not that I've heard, but that would be nice. That, or I'd love to see a huge tach in the center of the display like my 911 had, with the digital speed in the center of the tach. But... nope. Not here, not now.

I would think there would be aftermarket coders selling customization software for these types of things? At this point,I think I'd just be happy if I could pair my key FOB to my driver profile and have use of wireless CarPlay. 🤦‍♂️
