new problem with my 2021 GCL

My wife was at a stop and pulled out into traffic. The vehicle wouldn't accelerate, staying around 10mph and she said the display flashed red at the bottom. She was able to pull over out of harms way, thankfully! She put it into park but did not turn off. Everything went back to normal and she drove it home. So not only do we have the power steering light that comes on in the morning when cold, but now another, FAR MORE DANGEROUS issue of the vehicle not accelerating. Absolutely can't have this acceleration issue. I will taking to the dealer and starting the uphill battle to pursue the Lemon Law. This is so disappointing.

She must have pressed the manual gear shifter near the steering wheel by mistake and with that it goes into manual mode and you have to change gears with right hand side manual gear shifter. she needs to practise this. you can change back from manual to automatic by double pressing the left hand side gear shifter. please practice that as it is very soft and gets into manual gear. you will not notice but the vehicle will move in the same gear and problem is viisble when you are at lower speed within traffic as higher speed gearing being higher you will not feel. try this and let me know if this was the same case ?

While I do feel everyone should literally go page by page through their owner's manual, I also push some blame onto a lot of salesmen out there that don't give a proper delivery. I understand that neither party want to go through all this after a multi-hour car buying experience, but that's why a lot of imports do a 2nd delivery. By 2nd delivery, I mean the go over the basic functions at first delivery and let you have the car for a week or so, bring you back and go over the features in much more detail. As complicated as cars are these days, it's too bad there's not more opportunities like that.

I just went over this possibility with her and it appears this likely was the case. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks.
I'm glad this was brought up as I could see my wife doing the same thing.

I actually just got an email from my selling dealership asking me to make an appointment to go over the features of the car two weeks after purchase. I read the manual so that won't be necessary. Clearly, some dealerships are trying to up their game.

If you are relying on getting a thorough tutorial on your vehicle from the salesman, you have a lot to learn. Not to mention that the salesmen also have a lot to learn as to what they are selling. After purchasing about 45 new vehicles in my life, I realized many years ago about the lack of knowledge from the salesmen. This includes pricing, incentives, financing, options, features, etc. More often than not, I am more thoroughly versed with the vehicle than the salesman. In the old days being educated prior to entering the showroom was a bit more difficult than now. With all of the information available to buyers, you should do your homework on the vehicle you are interested in. In addition, as you mentioned, with the complexity of the modern automobile, it behooves everyone to take the time to review the entire manual as well as to sit in the vehicle with the manual present and go through the entire setup menus of the vehicle so you can be reasonably assured that you know the operating parameters of the vehicle. There are so many complaints on various forums as well as Facebook on so called problems with a particular Brand/Model of vehicle, not just the GCL, whereas the issue is not really a problem, but is a lack of knowledge of the operating features/options of said vehicle.

Mine did the same thing! She had no idea what the paddle shifters are, and I can't blame her.

Why in the world would you quote my benign post and inform me that If I am relying on the dealer that I have a lot to learn? I'm sorry my post offended you.

I guess my response offended you. It wasn't meant to. I just wanted to point out to everyone that relying on a salesman to provide accurate and complete details throughout the entire process as opposed to performing their own research could lead to a less than ideal outcome.
Again, I apologize.

Likewise, I apologize, and I didn't mean to overreact. I meant it when I said they should read the owner's manual, but people are sometimes getting in a car they had no intentions of buying and then blasting down the interstate at 75 plus mph, I think the salespeople "should" be doing a better job of preparing people for piloting a vehicle. What's even scarier, is that since we're on a forum, we're kind of "car nerds", versus these people who don't even know how the electronic parking brake works. Think about that, it's kind of scary that with the goofy manual shift, the rotary shifter, electronic parking brake, adaptive cruise control ....... and these people don't know what the heck they're doing!! LOL

I agree 100% with you that people need to do their own research, but for "non car" people who went in to look at a Wrangler, or just wanted to see the Grand Cherokee, and next thing you know they've bought one.

I’ve read the manual, but can’t find where the power steering failing, abs, tcs, and emergency braking error/MIL buttons are. Those must be features not defects.

Yeah, I missed the part in the manual where the AC doesn't work on a brand new vehicle with less than 500 miles on it. Fortunately there was a service bulletin about a flash, and Voila! Cold AC. Disappointing nonetheless. At the moment, I love this vehicle though.
