I just came across this listing for an electric brake controller for our GCL's. You can download the manual before you buy it to see what is involved in the installation. Looks very similar to the Redarc one I installed on my GCL.

I had to have dealer install brake unit as it has to be "enabled" by the dealer in the BCM/ECU. The instructions taht came with it is 24 pages and the mecanic who did a great job said it was a real pain to do.

Is there a page now in your speedo display options for trailering? My Durango has a factory brake controller, and I have a page where I can configure what type of trailer I am towing....

Does the trailer have to be connected to see that page? If it does not then no but I did not look in the off road page.

A trailer does not need to be connected on my Durango to see the page. The GCL may not have it....
