I’ve got the Overland with the McIntosh system…. Its very good, albeit a bit bass heavy. I’ve also got the Mark Levinson system in a 2018 Lexus RX. That is the best factory installed system I’ve ever had.
Your best bet is to find a custom audio shop. Simply replacing speakers won’t work in this day and age. Not enough power from the head unit. Sometimes, just adding a subwoofer can improve the sound dramatically.

Any luck finding a solution? I have the base system in my Altitude and it sounds pretty crappy. I figured the Alpine would be much better...

Have you put it in surround sound in settings? Also play around with the EQ on the radio. I adjusted my settings and the alpine system in my L sounds pretty good.

I owned a car stereo shop in the 90's and built custom competition sound systems. Yes, I'm much older now, but I ALWAYS buy cars with the upgraded sound system. I have a '21 GC Limited L w/ the Alpine system. Like it was mentioned earlier, play with the EQ and the settings and it should sound pretty good (mine sounds great). My only complaint is I'd love it to have another 10db in volume, but the sound quality is pure Alpine. Even without the extra volume, it's not horribly soft.

Absolutely love my McIntosh. It was one of my "must have" options. I agree with the bass heaavy comment, but you can adjust everything to your liking with the equalizer. So, no big deal

Dash speakers are 3.5, doors are 6x9. I’m going to be installing some Infinity 3032’s in the dash of my girlfriends Altitude once I figure out if the speaker grills pop out or if I’m going to have to remove the entire dash. I also have some slim mid bass 6x9’s I’m going to add in the front doors if the 3.5’s don’t improve the sq. I did the same thing in my Ram with the base sound system and it made a big difference.
Eventually I’m going to try and add a sub somewhere, probably in the rear storage cubby.

I have the McIntosh in my 2021. I had the Harmon Karden 19 speaker in my 2014 GC Summit. The 2014's stereo is heads and tails above the McIntosh. A small step backwards IMHO.

i agree….

in default settings alpine is bass heavy… I’ve set bass -3 mid +4 and trb +5. At this setting it’s on par id even better compared to HK stereo on my 540. Alpine don’t have full equalizer so that’s all you can do. I’d caution against turning on surrround sound as music looses clarity… it’s personal preference in the end

I agree the alpine system is bass heavy. It’s a good sounding system though. I’d love to hear the McIntosh but couldn’t justify bumping up to an overland to get it.
