HUD navigation info

Does anybody know where the "current road" info on the HUD originates? My roads are slow to update, sometimes for quite awhile, yet, my Nav. System us spot on. Of course, the Jeep and the dealer are useless in fixing the problem.

The Uconnect module (brains not screen) handles GPS/NAV. I would guess that the HUD gets its data from GPS/NAV via Canbus.

I always wondered if the speed limit signs are via the visual cameras or nav data.

To prove your HUD is getting slow data, do this test.

1. Have map routing you to somewhere
2. Use EVIC display in cluster to show directions.
3. Look at HUD

If Nav says turn right on “X” road, evic should show the turns and road name, once turned onto new road “X” the HUD should update. I believe the GPS needs to confirm you are on said road, so maybe 10-20 seconds delay in HUD display. I thought mine updated the HUD pretty quick.

FYI the Uconnect brains are trash. They have multiple part numbers for the same setup due to hardware changes, then sprinkle some chip shortages on top, then toss poor hardware designs with constant changes. They do fail and most folks here with crap Bluetooth, slow screen changes, no audio, no nav, etc all resulted in a replacement of this module. This module is essentially an android OS from about 4-5 years ago, on antiquated hardware that is no longer current or even made. Wonder why it takes 3 months to get one? Oh I know, the chips are obsolete and Harmon Kardon/Jeep is too lazy to redesign due to cost.

They fixed my problem just fine… they did nothing long enough to get sued and an SR placed perfectly and deeply in their Intergluteal cleft.

Can’t have Jeep problems if you don’t own one.

Never again.

I used my Nav system recently. Apparently, at least in my vehicle, when you are using the Nav., the HUD road info is blank until a change in the path you should take, ie: make a left/right, take exit, etc. you are traveling occurs, at which time the HUD will show what change is coming up.
