High Beams Without Automatic High Beams

Hello,

While driving our new GCL Altitude on its first road trip last night, I realized that I couldn’t activate the high beams by pushing the multifunction lever away from me while the headlights were in the auto position.

I can flash them by pulling the lever towards me and I can activate them when the switch is in the on position, just not in the auto position.

Is this the expected behavior of the high beams in the Altitude/Laredo configuration?

I noticed this too

“ The Automatic High Beam Headlamp Control can be turned on or off by selecting “ON” under “Auto Dim High Beams” within your Uconnect Settings Ú page 160, as well as turning the headlight switch to the AUTO position.”

I’ll have to double check my UConnect, but I’m pretty sure that isn’t an option on vehicles that aren’t equipped with Auto Dim High Beams. I think this might be a problem specific to the Laredo/Altitude trim level.

eah just checked my altitude…not an option in uconnect. Switch my lights to on instead of auto and both positions worked fine

Are you saying that with the switch in auto you are still able to engage the high beams? I have an Altitude and have been trying to figure this out. Thanks

Switch in auto you can only pull the lever in to activate the HB if you push out nothing happens and your lights stay on the LB. with the knob in the next spot before auto (just on) pulling in is the same temporary HB but this time when you push out your HB turn on and stay on. Like a normal car. Not sure why Jeep had to mess up 50+ years of normalcy

Probably a software over site. I bet it was cheeper to make them all that way with the auto high beams in the higher trims

My wife and I purchased an Altitude this past week. We were driving last night and also noticed the high beams won’t turn on in automatic mode, but will when the lights are turned on. I’m glad to know we aren’t the only ones experiencing this, but it sure seems like a dumb design.

Jeep designs a wheel 100 years later….but we made it square again like when the wheel was first made
