GCL Altitude Edition (Amber lights)

So the Altitude Edition comes equipped an Amber parking/running light in the Headlights. I really like the look of them, but when the headlights are placed in Auto mode the Amber light turns off. The only way to keep them on continuously is to turn headlight dial to ON manually. Option 1: Amber parking lights only Option 2: both headlights and Amber parking lights on together. Kinda wish they would also stay on when dial is set to auto mode but perhaps this is done for a reason. Just thought I’d share. 🤷🏻‍♂️Attached are photos but hard to catch on camera since LEDs tend to flicker when attempting to take a photo.

Yes actually, but the when turned to on it’s only the actual headlights that turn on, without the Amber.

I would like the same on my limited. I’ve played around in the settings and it looks like the only way to get this to work is by switching to the ON position as you stated. I’m not sure why the trims under overland don’t get the led accent strip lighting during the day. It is very strange. My DRL is basically the low beams while the overland and up have the led strip only. Really weird.

My bet is that you can have it programmed at the dealer. With many of the jeeps there is an option to program the DRL to headlight or running lights. Hopefully more info will get released as they work on more of these vehicles

ALFA OBD app lets you configure many settings in the BCM like this... Once a bypass comes out, people will start playing around. Search the Ram forums for this app and you can see all the things it can do

Does the entire LED light strip not light up on the altitude?
It does not automatically as with many of the higher up models. Higher models if I’m correct LED lights up and acts as a DRL white in color. On the Altitude, the LED strip is actually Amber in color and only lights up when headlight switch is turned to the ON position or Running light position. The only DRL on the Altitude is the actual headlights themselves which can be activated via the settings menu in Uconnect. A bit confusing

Yes you are correct. The overland trim and up have white DRL that are always on even if headlights are off. My limited has the same amber lights as your altitude. I like the look but want them on without the headlights and fog lights. I believe when the bypass comes out we should be able to program it.

Subscribing for when someone figures this out...was in the car wash the other day and sitting outside I saw the front end lit up with the orange lights and it looked great...menacing.

Amber running lights, which model do you have.? I have this on mine (Altitude) and they can be turned on and off via the switch.

I have an Altitude too…

you can run just the orange lights? I was messing around with it and it would only do it park I thought?

Yes just turn the nob to running lights ( first click up from off). It’ll turn on the back lights too. Make sure your daytime running lights are off via the Uconnect radio screen. With them off you will just get the amber running lights.

Yup first click or turn of your dial is the Amber running lights, second click or turn will be both headlights with Amber and 3rd click or turn is headlights only I believe. My only issue is when your DRLs are set to be on the Amber lights do not come on with them and you have to manually do so. But I agree it does look menacing. I actually like the Amber over the white LED IMO 🤷🏻‍♂️
