Gauge cluster screen delaminating

Here's a new one I haven't seen here yet. I have a bubble, or what looks like delaminating, in the gauge cluster screen. It's on a deeper layer in the screen. When I push on it, it doesn't change...I can tell it's not on the top layer.

It does seem to change depending on temperature. It first appeared after I left it parked outside in the cold a few days ago. After I drive a while and the screen gets warm, it shrinks slightly and changes shape...then the next day it's back to it's original size or bigger.

I already reached out to my dealer...the screen will obviously have to be replaced. The only question is will the next one do it as well.

This exact thing happened on my 2018 Grand Cherokee. It's a known issue that those screens in the GCs would overheat and cause the delamination by weakening the adhesive. Take it to the dealer immediately and they will order a replacement screen. Surprised they're still using these screens in the L that are known to overheat in previous model years.

Have them check out that CEL light too :)

I finally got this screen replaced yesterday. It took about 4 weeks to get the replacement from Jeep. While I was waiting for the replacement, a second bubble had started on the opposite corner.
Interesting fun fact…when I picked up my Jeep yesterday, I noticed the odometer had rolled back about 500 miles. My technician told me that the mileage is preprogrammed into the screen computer before they send it out. So the mileage I have now is where it was when the order went in a month ago. I didn’t realize that cluster screen is it’s own computer basically, and that’s where the mileage memory is stored.

So Jeep is inadvertently committing odometer fraud. Awesome.

Waiting to hear back from dealer on specifics. Was told I would have to leave my GCL on the day they order part. My gauge cluster has a bubble. Said could be 1 month to 4 months for part to come in. In the mean time, I haven’t even made the first payment. So my brand new vehicle will sit on the lot at my cost. And a loaner will be given. Joy!! An expensive vehicle. Owned for less than 30 days.

I would push back on leaving your vehicle while they wait on the part…unless you’re wanting to. It took 5 weeks for my screen to arrive, and they never mentioned leaving my Jeep there.

Not sure what State you are in but in Florida, they would basically offering you the option of turning that vehicle into a lemon right at the start. That's not necessarily bad - LOL!

Just called my dealer back and added that to my "list of concerns" for when my jeep goes in next month. I had to schedule the service out almost 5 weeks just so they would have a loaner vehicle.
