I have read how this system works but is there any way to test it with out running something over 🤕. In my work car is has the same function with out the braking and I get alarms when I get to close to something in front of me. So far no alarms in the jeep. I had a car slam on there brakes to make a last min turn. I had to brake hard also but no auto braking or alarms.

I know mine works on reverse. Pulling into my garage is tight so I have to angle it to fit with the other cars. If I angle too much then when backing out it complains I will hit the side of the garage (I won’t) and it auto brakes. I have to turn off the function to be able to pull out of the garage.

Mine stopped doing that after a few days. I wonder if it learns?

Ive got the alerts before. but no full on braking. I had similar tech in my pacifica from 2018. i can tell you the GCL works much better.

Same thing I have to do to get out of my garage.

Can someone explain what sensors are used for this feature? Is it the same sensor as what's used for adaptive cruise controls.

I think some of them are in the same unit as the rear view mirror. I had my windshield replaced and received this email from Safelite:Screenshot_20210925-114628.png

Mines been updated with a replacement of rear latch. I can tell you the drive the other day it did activate the warning. I was already braking but I guess the system did not think I was braking fast enough. It was just a flash on the screen and beeping sound. We have active braking turned off just warning on. I was approaching heavy traffic going on a feeder at about 45 mph with cars about 200 feet or so at a dead stop. by the time was 150ft or so and about 35 mph it was tossing out the warning. Just estimates not sure if the distance or mph is correct but close.

One time it did braked for us when a car turned into a parking lot across traffic on the other side right in front of us even, though I was smoothly braking "it" braked harder I would say it was a bit over-zealous with the braking and distance. My smooth braking vs AI hard braking early would have caused an issue if their was a tailgater behind me. Main reason we turned on warning turned off active braking. I have mixed feelings about all these automated systems.

If you want to test it, you could set up a refrigerator box, or a large flatscreen TV box and see how it does. At a low enough speed you should be able to stop, or if you hit it, not do any damage (throw a light blanket on the box if you want to protect from scratches.)
