Yes, I like the wheels as well. It’s interesting that after my order was placed and I was in contact with Jeep Customer Service, they in formed me that the vehicle on order was not a Summit Reserve because my dealer did not enter the proper codes. This caused a lot of turmoil but after I was able to see my window sticker I was satisfied. When the service department brought me my vehicle and I saw the wheels, that guaranteed a Summit Reserve as they are unique to that model.

Regarding the power, no complaints. I watched YouTube videos complaining about the lack of power after depleting electric. I don’t find this to be the case. One thing that I did noticed, was the different handling, somewhat unexpected, and I believe caused by the weight of the batteries. Not a problem, just different. Right now, I’m experimenting with the three different steering ratios to see how that might change things. Overall, very pleased.

I'll be curious to see what kind of e-only range and overall mileage people get with these. Any impressions so far?

Car and driver said…

“This Grand Cherokee claims 26 miles of EV range.”

“After the battery is depleted, the Grand Cherokee 4xe gets an EPA-estimated 23 mpg combined, which is just 1 mpg more than all-wheel-drive V-6 models”.

“And with its limited EV capabilities and relatively modest fuel-economy improvement over a V-6 or V-8 model, the Grand Cherokee 4xe doesn't seem to offer enough reward for the extra cost and effort.”

Wonder how well it will sell?

Not yet Sarge, but I am more than willing to share my results. I plan to collect data under two different experiments. The first, running now, is to start off with a full tank and charge. Each evening, I bring my e-status back to 100%. Since I’m using very little fuel, I will end this phase when I exhaust my fuel, or more likely, after 500 miles. I am set to Hybrid at all times.

The next experiment is to also start with a full tank and charge, as well as staying in Hybrid, but this time I will not be adding any additional charging. Since electric power will be deleted fairly soon, this will really be testing Hybrid economy, similar to what I would experience on a trip without using charging stations. As stated by eleceng1979, I don’t expect much in the way of great fuel economy.

The e-only range is straight forward. The system predicts about a 27 mile range but then holds back a little keeping it in reserve. I may not post the results for some, I work from home and don’t have the advantage of piling up commuter miles.

Thanks Tony, I think that kind of thing is helpful for people contemplating buying one of these. It will be appreciated down the road, I'm sure.
