Engine cover

I was able to get the engine cover and screws from mopar today since limiteds don’t come with it. Engine has the mounts but no cover… cheap Jeep

What is the primary purpose of the engine cover? (cosmetics, noise reduction, heat shield). After you installed the cover did you notice any reduction in engine noise either inside or outside the vehicle?
If it provides additional noise reduction I might consider it, otherwise I like to see what is going on without having to remove the cover. I imagine mechanics don't like these.
